I am going to Tanzania on safari in January. I am a fine/art portrait photographer - not (by any stretch) a wildlife photographer. For my work I use a Nikon D7000 with a very good (and fast) 17-55 lens. The lens is heavy and I am limited to what I can bring with me. I want to take pictures on this trip (for my own enjoyment - that's all), but don't want to invest a lot of money in a lens I probably won't ever use again. There are lots of used telephoto lenses on Ebay and Craig's list - but the array is dizzying. Your thoughts would be most welcome.

I posted about the problems my son has been having ordering an iMac from MacMall. After the order finally went through after five days, he found out that the computer is backordered! Other sellers said upfront that the item was backordered, but not MacMall. In none of the phone calls or emails did MacMall say the unit was not available. They even said it was ready to ship - with a little "Backordered" notice in the corner. He cancelled and looked to buy from Apple directly.

He called the local store, an hour away, but they don't stock anything with 16GB of RAM or the Fusion drive, only the standard models, so he'll have to wait for them to ship it to him in a week or more. It's costing $50, but at least he knows he'll receive it.

Here is what I have tried so far

- Read and implemented the two IOS 8 tips above
- Force Quit IOS (Home button & ON/OFF key simultaneously)
- Turned off the iPad2 and restarted
- Deleted History > Preferences>Safari>Clear History & Website data
- Deleted all bookmarks
- With Safari Open, I clicked on the double pages and closed all open pages except for UHH and also closed out what appear to be history by swiping to the left and clicking on delete but when I returned to this section a bit later it appears that most if not all of the History had returned.

After these attempts I again went to AmyJ's (Amy I promise I am not picking on you}Egret and attempted to dl the pic. I received the same msg -"Problem with the Web Page and will close and reopen it" and then the page crashed, just the page not the UHH site. I then tried to dl Amy's Eagle and received the same message that the Page would close and reopen but it never did - just hung but did not crash. I opened a pic by Rockdog - Pintails and Nalu - Sandhill Cranes without a problem. In limited testing it seems I experience this problem only with Amy's pics although I have received the "Problem with this page and will close and reopen" fairly often on UHH in the past but usually the page did open.

I just remembered a suggestion to restore the iPad2 and reload all the apps and data. I will try that next and let you know what happens.

At this point, several users were able to identify a fix for iPad with Safari browser.

Here is one reply that might help:

It looks like Safari, if not exited properly, keeps all the pages you've visited active in the background. Over time, that overloads the system and contributes to the problems of browser freezing, half-page loading, and repeated redirects.

You can find some additional information, that's still relevant for iOS 9 (not just 8,7,etc.).

No insect pics today. No pics period. Wish I'd had my camera with me while we were out. I spotted what I found to be a Common Snapping Turtle out near Elrods on Business 6 in Dallas, Georgia. I turned the car around by the Post Office and went back to move it out of the street. Well, I found it walking alongside the curb. By the time I parked, it had managed to get up over the curb. I went over to pick it up and it became aggressive. I have never seen the Common variety before, just Alligator snappers. Needless to say, I left it be after it snapped at me & became aggressive. Went past the area on the way home and did not see it so I can only assume it made it to the treeline OK. Should have at least used the camera on my phone to get an image.... Maybe next time...
