I went from Picasa and Google Photos to Photoshop Elements. The Organizer is great, allowing you to make Folders and Albums with various categories and subcategories. It's well worth the reasonable price!
I agree. Elements has a great Organizer. It was indispensable when I scanned in all my slides and re-dated them for their origin date and not the date scanned. Plus the editing tools had a very easy learning curve.
I have often thought of doing this but never got around to it. I think its main value would be in forcing you to "make" a photograph instead of trying to capture every interesting thing that comes along. It also emphasizes the fact that each lens focal length has its own value, depending on the situation.
I use my D7200, 18-200 zoom, SB700 TTL speedlight with a scoop reflector by Lite-Genius. Manual mode, flash in TTL mode, ISO 400, F4.5, shutter at 1/200. Remember that the flash controls exposure on the subject and the shutter controls the ambient light. ISO can be increased to reach out further when needed. Shutter can be increased to make backgrounds darker. Aperture can be adjusted to affect depth of field. I’ve had excellent results with group shots of a dozen or so.
Might be a good idea to allow space for enlarging in post if needed.
I think that the first two considerations are the quality of the resultant photo that you desire and your ability to get it. The next is getting that quality without flash. If the venue says no flash it can be inferred that you can take photos, period.
I like my 18-200 on my D7200 for my walk around lens. It’s rated as good quality for the price. Adorama has a used one for $200.

No harm but it takes time to post them.
A few seconds to post or just share the download. Oh wait, then the download takes a few seconds to get. Oh well …

Youre reading things into the question. You think quality high rez prints are a goal ?
I can also read into the question as well. A Hawgster with 1000 amatuer slides on hand has nothing worthy of hiqh rez digitizing. Its all personal memories to make digital slide shows for family events. A phone is perfect.
The antitechnical nature of the opening post reinforces a reading that the images on the slides are not worthy of fancy photographic efforts. A phone will be waaaaay more than fully adequate.

Obviously you missed a key word in my post - "If". The unsaid part is that if you don’t want prints with decent quality then yeh, use a smartphone.
You could rent a scanner or uy one and put it on the used market when you’re done.
If yo want to print the results, use a scanner or a DSLR setup so you can get a high resolution product.
I for one like to see the info. It’s a quick snapshot (pun intended) of the technical side of the photo for those of us who have less experience than advanced photographers, info that may be motivation to explore the capabilities and/or learn the limitations of our own gear. It’s good reference info.

Mike, amazed in a good way or bad? Expand, please
I'd love to chat about the role of color vs. the impact of black and white.
I think B&W has to be done properly with respect to contrast and tones in order to invoke the emotional connection that color does.

Calling out rudeness is a waste of time and disruptive to a thread. Just think of the trolls, bullies and Great Truth Tellers as "white noise." Or "naked and afraid." That's what works for me

Perhaps such quieries should be prefaced with "Your opinion please", or "Your thoughts".
