I naming convention was to name my photos by persons name, activity or event (ie. James, Bdays, NYC trip). Some of them in a particular category are a mixture of .jpg, .png or tif or psd. So I click on all of the pics named 'NYC trip' , then hit "Stack". So then instead of scrolling through 10,000 pics to highlight 'NYC Trip' (cause they maybe different file types, and are therefore not in sequence by file name), I can sort them by filename and regardless of what extension they are they will be listed together. Once sorted by file name I can then group them into a stack.
I see there is a 'sort by' for "filename" one for "file extension" and one for "file type" but "file name will only include one file type. If it said "file name ONLY" that would be what I need. So if I sort by "file name" I will be fooled into thinking I have all the files named "NYC trip" which I wont.
The person above stated stacking will not include multiple file types. I was trying to get around that.
Thanks again for all advice..

Thank you for your reply, but I want to do this within Lightroom Classic so I can select them all in a row and stack them together. I wish there was a "NONE" in LR. That would work...That would put them all in a row regardless of ext or type...

LR Classic, I have over 10,000 photos. Trying to stack all 50 photos whose filename starts with "Adirondacks" no matter what the .xxx is. When I sort by 'filename' I get all the .jpg files first but down the line I get the .Tif files for the same filename. Sorting by 'file type' doesn't bring them together either so I can't just select them all and stack them. Is there a trick i'm missing here? Should I convert all of the .TIFs to .jpgs?
Thanks for any help

Exporting from LR at 100% CR always..Does exporting at 100% cause any compression at all? That would explain the smaller file size but I dont think that's the case .
Thanks for your help .

First I am working with jpeg because these are all older pics I have accumulated over 60 years or someone else had taken them. Second, I am importing them into LR Classic , then I edit them, in PS. When they are back in LR naturally the file size becomes larger after edits (15M). Then I export the 15 M files from LR to a folder on my HD to send to the book maker. The files sizes (after the export) became half of what they were in LR (ie. 8M instead of 15M in that folder. My question is why?
Hope this is a bit more clear.
Thanks for any help...

All files were jpegs from the start then imported into LR Classic. On export when I export to HD the presets all become blanked out as default.

Imported into LR as .jpegs, Hit EXPORT BUTTON then settings = Export to = Hard Drive, (specific folder on desktop, resolution=240 ppi, no sharpening, no resize to fit, but they all appear in the folder as half the original MB size.....Thanks.

In LR Classic I exported 50 pics to my HD with the "Burn to full sized .jpegs" option. All of the pics were the same 15MB each in LR. After export, the MB sizes decreased to about half. What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to upload to Snapfish to create an album that will be at the best resolution.

When I "delete from disk" in LR they do not go into my win10 Recycle bin and I can't find them anywhere. Do you happen to know where the dumpster is?
Thanks

I do this:
Have the pic icon on your desktop
Have the Ps or Lr icon on your desktop
Drag your pic onto either the Lr or Ps icon which will then open the pic.
Do your editing then save the pic.

What is the best way a person who lives 1,000 miles away send me pics he took on his Iphone with the best resolution? Via Facebook, or as a file attachment in an email? I plan on editing them in LR. In Facebook I can open them, view them, right click and select "save as" to my desktop. He has an 8 MP Iphone.
Thanks
