Those of you who know me know that I love to make greeting cards and what better time than the Christmas season to share them.
Lets have fun and make this a UHH Christmas card sharing

What a fun challenge, Sher. Thank you, and everyone, for sharing your creative cards! Love them all! Mine are composites of 2-3 photos from our farm put on another background photo from the farm - using Photoshop Elements. Sometimes I have to spend a lot of time to get the animals to cooperate and look in the right direction. :) I've had good luck printing the cards at Personalization Mall where you can design your card from scratch and put your own message inside. They ship very quickly and do a great job of reproducing the photo.

This was a baby yawning right after birth. However he was not born during winter months in the snow!

Background was the entrance to a neighborhood down the road. Added the two crias from another photo and Santa clip art. Then added snow.

A lot of time waiting for them to show interest in this bag placed in their pasture to get photos. Then put on another pasture background, snow added.

Cute.

Are those llamas applying for jobs as backup to Rudolph and company? Or do they work the South American part of the route for Santa?

:) They could probably work with Rudolph. They sure can fly over a fence when they want to.

Playing around with merging photos for a holiday card. Llamas and bird came from separate photos and were put into this background photo from our farm. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions? I really enjoy seeing what others have done with their photos to make holiday cards!

With that being said, it kind of bothers me when
someone asks for advice, and one of the hogs jumps all over them for not knowing how to use , or asking for advice with their equipment.

Thank you for bringing this up, Robin. I really cringe at some of the BAB (Bad Adult Behavior) on this forum. I read the forum every day but rarely comment or post a question or photo just due to the nasty comments that might be received. What ever happened to just plain old common respect for one another?

Very nice. I haven't seen this technique before. So if I understand correctly, you printed your photo off in b&w and then colored with water colors by hand. Just without an overly wet brush so paper didn't buckle? Am I on the right path.? Wonder if watercolor paper would go through a printer. Some paper for making cards is rather thick and textured. Thanks for sharing.

Thought I had this pretty much figured out, but now I'm confused again. I have the Epson V6000 Photo scanner and I have scanned a lot of old family photos at 600 DPI. DPI is the only setting that I see offered - no PPI I thought I had read that 600 was the recommended setting for old slides. My DPI settings on this scanner go up to 12800. Should I really be using that high a setting? In addition, I have printed or worked on many of those old family photos and they seem to be as good as possible considering the photo may have not been too good to begin with.

If you are wanting to include a lot of text such as family history, I suggest you give Bookemon a try. It's very versatile and lets you create your own pages just the way you want them with inserting as many photos as you like. It also has the themed templates as other offer if you like to use those. For a book of mainly photos, My Publisher has excellent quality. I found their program a little hard to use without the templates so I created my pages in Photoshop and inserted the entire page as one large photo full bleed. That worked well and I still have a copy of all my pages if I should ever want to print again with another company.

I've wondered why I don't see much about the Sony in this forum. I started digital with the 717 - anyone ever have that one? I loved it! When I went to upgrade to another Sony, the camera store steered me towards a Canon. That never did work well, however I could blame the photographer rather than the camera. Went back to get a Sony and the store recommended a Nikon. We got along good, but something was still missing. So, went back again and came home with the A77. We're doing great!! Sold the other two and all the lenses as well. Now waiting to add the A6000 for more fun! To quote riser above, "I love my SONY gear!!" But my question still is, why do the stores try to sell you something other than Sony?

Peter, you have captured the dichotomy of this sort of scene. I, personally, abhor people marking up other's property, but then there is a photographic quality produced by those markings that can't escape a photographer's eye and proper treatment. You've managed to capture a rather unattractive practice and produced a very intriguing image.

Exactly! I really like it! It's a sign of the times and an image that will reflect back into the history of this location some day.
