Another day of good light and a chance to use my new Canon 7D2 and canon 100-400 II lens.

I am 72, not as steady as I used to be so I do use a tripod.
The small birds are challenge because they are always on the move. The new lens focus system is terrific.

All photos are cropped and sized.

Beautiful shots ajnonby.

We drove along Hwy 7 from Lyons up to Estes Park here in Colorado. As you drive through Allenspark this beautiful Chapel on the rock sits nestled in the mountains.

The Chapel on the Rock (officially, Saint Catherine of Siena Chapel) is located on the grounds of Saint Malo Retreat, in Allenspark.
Boulder county has designated this chapel a historic site.
Pope John Paul II prayed at the chapel during his visit to Denver for world youth day in 1993. He blessed the chapel afterwards.
In November 2011 the chapel was spared from a devastating fire that destroyed a majority of the retreat center. During the rock slides of September 2013 the Chapel on the Rock survived, though most of the surrounding terrain was destroyed.
Sounds to me like it indestructible.

Two days ago it was a cloudy and cold day. These 3 different eagles were about 3/4 mile apart ( that's why I do a lot of walking ). The distances to the eagles are stated with each photo. They were all shot at 600mm.

Great shots Regis. Beautiful.

The city where I love is a study in opposites - literally within blocks of each other, we have absolutely gorgeous architecture in the Historic District with houses that are kept in pristine condition - and yet a few streets away, things are not so.

The colors of paint on this house remind me of some I have seen in the city of New Orleans, which is why I stopped to photograph it in the first place. And while I did a credible job of bringing out the colors, Lynne looked at it once and said "How tacky! It's a shame they would do that to such a beautiful house.

I have heard the comment here that PP is used to cover up a bad photograph. If anyone is so inclined, you have my permission to download this picture, apply a thick coating of Neon Glow (or any other effect) and upload to this thread. Have fun!

Eagle with SX50; the rest with Canon T3i, Canon EF 70-300 IS USM lens. This lens hasn't seen sunshine or an ISO less than 800 since I got it 8 days ago!

Thanks for viewing.

Yesterday afternoon, I met Philo (aka Bob Gardner who was in the area for a brief stay) for a short hike and some shooting along some marsh in central Marin. It had been really foggy all day, but cleared just enough for fairly good light. The following shots represent some of the things we saw.

When I mentioned in my most recent post that I would never hand hold the Tamron 150-600 again, I lied. The birds were shot with that lens on the 7D, the landscapes were shot with the 60D and the 18-200mm.

The most common of Doves and often overlooked, the Mourning Dove displays subtle pastels in its plumage. Hopefully I've captured a little of that in the four images below.
