Has anybody heard anything about this company? I saw it on eBay as well as Amazon and their prices are very low. The ratings on eBay are very good and they state they offer free shipping and USA warranties. For example, I was looking for a Nikon SB800 flash for my Nikon D810 camera and they are advertising one for less than $100 which contains many extras, i.e. battery charger, etc. I am well aware of "If it looks too good to be true, it is" but this looks legit. Anybody know anything about ecostconnection?

If you want top notch canvas prints, excellent customer service and have your canvas prints made by the same people Scott Kelby and Dave Cross uses (to name a few), get them done at Artistic Photo Canvas. You will not find better quality anywhere, in my opinion. Read Scott's and Dave's recommendation on the Artistic Photo Canvas website: http://artisticphotocanvas.com/ They only do canvas prints.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I very much appreciate your response. Great macro, by the way.

OK, now I get it. Thanks so much to those who helped me better understand. I'm going to be using it tomorrow and wasn't sure about the limit switch. Thanks again!

I am not sure I understand about the focus switch. Under normal circumstances, should the switch be set to full?

Is this lens for a crop or full frame camera? I have both the Nikon D300s and Nikon D810. Also, there is a switch on the lens labeled "Limit" and "Full." Does anyone know what this is used for?

Thank you, Lightcatcher and Mr. PC. I shut down the computer and then restarted it. Afterwards, I was able to save the file as a .jpg.

I saved a photo as .psd in PS6; however, when I try to save it as .jpg, I get the following message: "Could not save (name of the file) because the file is locked, you do not have permissions or another program is using the file. Use the properties command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file." This has never happened to me before and I do not have the file locked, as far as I can tell. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can save it as .jpg?

Photomatix defaults and algorithms do not change, although stuff is added. I can still open .hdr files from v3 and get the same results.

Here's your answer, obtained in five seconds by googling "Photomatix Nikon D 810". From their FAQ:

While the current versions of Photomatix Pro and Essentials do support RAW files from the Nikon D5300 and D810, it only works with 14-bit NEF files, not with 12-bit ones.
We will fix this issue in a future version, but in the meantime you can avoid it by setting your NEF Preference to 14-bit instead. Another option is to convert your 12-bit NEF files to TIFF or JPEG in a software that support them, and then load the converted files in Photomatix. This workflow has other advantages, as further detailed here.

Kymarto, I cannot find instructions for setting NEF preference to 14-bit. Can you help me?

Hi tnwaltz,
I don't know what you use HDR for, but if it is to capture a wider dynamic range, the D810 is a remarkable camera with a fantastic dynamic range.
You may find that you are using HDR unnecessarily.
And if you still wish/need to expand the range, you will get a much more natural result using other types of exposure blending techniques, or even just processing one image efficiently.

Lighthouse, thanks for your response. I use HDR for interior real estate photography.

kymarto, thanks for your response. I will Google it. I am not sure I know how to set the NEF Preference to 14-bit.

It's a codec. You can get it here:

But you already found it and it is working, so this is for anyone else looking at this thread.

To the OP, what are the specs for your computer. I use a D800 and routinely process 5 shot HDR, but also do 30 shot focus stacks, and the largest pano I've merged is 18 frames, for an image that is 41,000x7300 px which results in a 300mp image. My computer is slow as expected, but it doesn't crash.

Gene51, my desktop computer is Hewlett Packard with i7 processor at 3.4 GHz, 12 GB RAM, 1.5 TB free (1.8 TB total). I also have two 1TB external hard drives. My thinking is this should be totally sufficient to process my bracketed shots. Your opinion?

To all who have responded to my question re Photomatix and D810, let me say thank you. I have been sick for the past 3 days and have not felt like sitting in front of a computer; therefore have not been able to read the replies but I will do so and respond more appropriately during the next few days.

You are still going to be twice as large as the D300. I would try a 3 shot bracket and see if that worked then try a 5 shot. My guess is a 3 shot would work. It would also depend on your computer more than your camera I think.

Thanks again, Jethro779. I will give that a try and see if they turn out better. It may very well be time for a new computer.
