Last year I purchased a refurbished Canon 6D from Canon (about $1100 when they have them). It is not a camera for everyone - it doesn't shoot as many frames per second as some people would like for example - but some say it is the "second-best camera ever made". I have been fantastically pleased with this camera. Its low-light capability allows me to get acceptable images with an ISO as high as 25,000. I can do pretty amazing cropping. The dynamic range of the images seems much better than with the APS-C sensor cameras.

Amen to this. For the very reasons listed above, this is my "go to" camera. The low-light capability alone has paid off in multiples since I bought the camera about two years ago. I couldn't be happier!

I took this on the fly and love the expression. I would like to make it a canvas for my hubby. Please look at it an see if it is good enough. We tried to get the drool off his face and not sure if it is now worthy. I need a class for editing but for now I will take any ideas for this. Thank you so much.

This is a priceless image that will become more precious with every passing year. I agree with the suggestion to remove the small white spot on the lower eyelid. Well done!

Seems like things have changed from my day of stacking a few bricks and then leaning a 1X6" board on them to launch our Huffys a mind-boggling 18 inches into the sky.

The picture was taken at a Regional Meeting - no thought was given to the foreground and this is the result. I have attached the original RAW file.
Is there any way to edit this photo in order to use it as a nice group shot? Perhaps someday to be included in a newsletter?

Maybe a vignette? Or blur the foreground and background?

Thanks

Chuck

Chuck, I think I've improved the image, but don't know for sure how to send it to you. If you will PM me at janddgloss@suddenlink.net I'll send you my effort.

Gorgeous photo!!! I think the image should be submitted to a magazine. It looks like a cover shot. Or to a competition!!!

My thoughts exactly! This is one that needs to be seen by many, many folks. An amazing capture!

I have seen this beautiful old barn many times on this quiet North Carolina road, and watched it deteriorate through the years. Still a real beauty.

Beautiful indeed. And a gorgeous capture as well. Thanks for sending this. I love the nostalgia created by your processing.

Sounds like you've had far more than a reasonable share of bad experience. I hope you forward your comments to B&H, as I know they would appreciate having a summary of what has happened in your case. I've always been very satisfied with my years of shopping B&H, but I understand completely your disappointment and frustration. I just hope that--if still possible--they "make it right." Good luck!

Young people are obsessed with cell phones . The entire world is in the palm of their hands . And they're missing out on so much . The obsession to record and post every moment . Someday looking back they will have images but few memories .
Will cameras , real cameras die off ? Probably not , but there will be fewer .

Machia, your statement about "having images, but few memories" is priceless--much wisdom. I hope it will be OK to quote you in front of photography program audiences. If not, please let me know.
Best wishes,

Two old guys, one 80 and one 87, were sitting on a park bench one morning. The 87-year-old had just finished his morning jog and wasn't even short of breath.

The 80-year-old was amazed at the guy's stamina
and asked him what he did to have so much energy.
The 87-year-old said, "Well, I eat rye bread every day. It
keeps your energy level high and you'll have great stamina with the ladies."

So, on the way home the 80-year-old stopped at the bakery. As he was looking around, the saleslady asked if he needed a help. He said, "Do you have any rye
bread?" "Yes, there's a whole shelf of it. Would you like some?" He said, "I want 5 loaves."

She said, "My goodness, 5 loaves! By the time you get to the 3rd loaf, it'll be hard." He replied, "I can't believe everybody knows about this stuff but me."

Some examples of what can be found as you travel through the high country. These were originally built for the stockmen to stay while moving stock through the vast mountainous areas of the high country. They are still used for this as well as for overnight emergency stops and for travellers, hikers, or when snow bound. The first is the famous Craig's Hut used in the film "The Man from Snowy River". Unfortunately this has burnt down 3 times and this is a rebuilt replica of what it was like. It is a tourist stop and has easy access for buses and 4 x 4 cars. The rest are found as you drive through the numerous tracks to be found. They are found of all maps in case of emergencies but are often burnt down in area bush fires through summer, only to be rebuilt by local towns or organisations. The last is a Old School House, I believe built in the 1800's ??? This one is built by a homestead that have been appointed the school's caretakers to help with maintenance and upkeep. Usually you can find some stored can food items that have been left or donated for emergency situations. Also some have a log books to record visitor's names and comments, where you are from etc.

Karenn--very interesting and well-described. Your comments really add to an excellent photo journey. Thank you for sharing this from your tour of the High Country in Australia.
