Morning all. I am looking for recommendations for an external flash unit for the D500 that won't break the bank. My main photo focus is wildlife, especially birds. I won't be using the flash that much so looking for something less expensive than the Nikon offerings. It will mainly be used in shots in the woods with a Better Beemer for that extra fill light you sometimes need. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks so much. I'll check it out.
Very nice. I am considering a flash unit for my D500. What flash are you using and are you using a Better Beemer? Thanks for any info you are willing to share.
I use the TC 1.4 III on the PF version of Nikon's f/4 300mm lens and love the combo. Using it on both a D500 and D610.
Thanks for all the comments. I've been up in the North Maine Woods for a few days and there isn't cell service! Lots to consider. I have thought of going full frame fir a while. Almost pulled the trigger last fall but couldn't decide whether to go all in on the 750 or the economy 610 model! Since the 7100 didn't cost me anything except a $5 raffle ticket what ever I can sell it for will be profit to put towards something else. Since I do mostly wildlife I was thinking crop factor was the way to go. I'll keep mulling it over!
I am thinking about upgrading from the D7100 to the D7200. I won the D7100 in a raffle about 18 months ago. I primarily use it for wildlife photography with an emphasis on birds and BIF's. The D7100 is a great camera but for BIF's I am intrigued by the bigger buffer claims of faster AF of the D7200.
Have any of you upgraded and do you feel it was worth it?
Yes, I've read the reviews but I would like opinions from those who have actually upgraded.
Definitely in the Flicker family. I believe you have both the red-shafted and yellow-shafted in your neck of the woods.
Very nice Bob. How long have the Osprey been back in CT? Haven't seen any here in Maine yet. Did see a Great Egret and Great Blue Heron on Sunday.
Give the folks at Eagle Optics a call. They can give you advice. To do it well it is not a cheap endeavor. The top digiscopers get some stunning photos but they have been doing it a long time and have top of the line scopes and adapters. The majority of them seem to be using mirrorless cameras.
