More snow for tonight and again wednesday. February just ended as the second coldest february on record at concord where temperatures are recorded, at 12.1 degree, .1 degree from being the coldest february. The northern part of the state was much colder than that.

SO great to have you pop in. Some of the old lenses still do a terrific job - your post proves that. It seems very versatile noting the variety of shots from landscapes to close up, DOF...The images of the horses and their environs are beautiful. And I think those are alpacas? And maybe a llama? My favorite winter shooting gloves are fingerless alpaca wool gloves.

Thanks Pat, I dont the m 42 lens enough, I get lazy with the auto zoom lens.

I'm from S. California. so perhaps I'm wrong, but I
think the house in the first photo has a poor insulation
problem. That's why there's no snow in the center section.

A lot of the older homes up here in NH dont have the insulation that houses built in the 70s and up. Heat is lost up thru the roof melts the snow on the roof, but its been so cold that the run off freezes at roof edge which causes an ice dam.

This challenge caused me to dig out a 1968 vintage 50mm 1.4 lens that I havent used for awhile. Its a manual screw mount lens but with adapter it works pretty well.
Here are a few examples from driving around today.

a few examples of the problems this winters cold and snow has been the ice dams that it has caused. There have been numerous reports of collapsed roofs around the area. The ice build up on roofs can cause snow melt to back up under shingles and cause water damage in the house.

I've been selling Cars for a living for 30 years and it always amazes me when "Old School" idiot says "They sure don't make them like they did when i was growing up!"

I politely say, "Yes, you're right, and it's a good thing they don't."

As a kid it was rare to see a car with over 100,000 miles, but today its pretty common.

My 85 Olds Delta 88 had 260,000 miles when it blew the rear end. wasn't worth repairing so I had it towed away. And they say the American cars don.t last.

I think it depends on how it is driven, and doing the basic upkeep.

I drove two Chryslers to 285,000 before I sold each one but I never took pictures of either one.

Had a 1990 vw golf i put on 275,000 miles gave it to my nephew. Then i got a 1996 jetta that made to over 275,000 before i traded it for this jetta wagon.
I can remember when you had to get rid of a car if it was getting near 100,000
Miles.
