I don’t normally shoot wildlife but when I find myself traveling to a place where photographing wildlife is a draw I will rent. That being said this is an interesting lens for small creatures or a long reach. At only 11” long and under 4 lbs. It sounds like a great choice for those hiking around on foot. Looking forward to see an in depth comparison with the 180/600 zoom. I expect the prime 600pf to excel at edge to edge sharpness. What else, we’ll see once the production lenses hit the market, purportedly in late October.

It appears the bear didn’t enjoy his time in captivity.

Jerry I have a 4tb NAS that I purchased to keep music files, photo backups and other backups. I was tired of all the Apple Music costs and other storage charges. Works great with my Sonos system. It’s Raid 1. If you’re ambiguous you can setup remote file access as well. Serves me well.

Bear spray would be better for her and most people.

Most assuredly, in Grizzly bear country you should never walk without it.

The Boston Globe publishes the DOI every 4th of July on their Op Ed page. I always enjoy reading it too.

Wow, look at the remaining snowpack on High Rustler! We were fortunate to have two trips to ski last winter. Hoping for more of the same this coming season.

I was exploring a full house generator a few years back but ended up installing solar with a backup battery pack. Pleased I did, no more electric bills and full backup power for 12-18 hours in the event of a power outage.

I’ll be looking to rent this lens next fall for a trip to Peru and the Amazon. Should be a great choice for wildlife of all sizes.

This lens will be a huge success if it performs as well as the rest of the Z lens lineup. $1700 for an internal zoom super telephoto is crazy!

From what I've read, very true. I don't think, however that purchasing a new Tesla Plaid X is in the cards now. I'll wait till the technology matures and there are more charging stations available.

FYI the Tesla charging network is pretty robust and expanding every year. The cars computer will program charging stops and durations on extended trips. You can easily cross the country or travel up and down both coasts as well as all the north/south interstates in between. Their model Y can now be purchased for about $42K, which is $4k less than the average vehicle purchase price. The only maintenance expenses are tires and windshield washer. Did someone mention it does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds? And by the way it will go from 60-120 in another 5.2 seconds. The wonder of a flat line torque curve.

I recommend Ellis Falls in the Pinkham Notch region. One of the best.

A friend is considering buying a hybrid and asked my opinion. I gave her some references, but I thought I'd ask for opinions here. Cost, operating expenses, and reliability are three areas of interest.

There are two versions of hybrid vehicles, regenerative electric plus gas and the so called plug-in hybrid vehicles. The later are those that have a modest sized battery and run exclusively on electricity until the battery is depleted after which it switches over to gas.
