Get an IMac and Aperture for editing and get on about your business. You will never regret it. Be sure to get their One to One training option to help you make the transition.

i would have loved to take u up on the offer but my husband travels with his job and i was lucky for him to give me a couple of hours to stop to begin with. he's not the most supportive when it comes to me doing pics. maybe one day i can come up without him lol

Now that I am chasing that perfect shot I am at the overlook 2 or 3days a week and my wife always goes with me and even carries the tripod, I cannot even conceive of having a non-supportive spouse. Maybe I am just spoiled.

actually i didnt..i saw the sign for the overlook and followed it and got lost. i apparently missed a sign lol but the kind of neighborhood i ended up in scared the crap out of me. i was standing across some luxury apartments that had a restaurant at the top...

Looking closer I can see it was not from the overlook. I know the neighborhood you speak of and they are generally harmless as long as your heavily armed. You should have taken some of us up on our offer to guide you to the best sites. We could have served as security for you while you took your photos. Shooting cityscapes will often take you into unsecured locations and shooting at night compounds the problem. Where ever you go you should probably have a local guide and someone to watch your back while you fiddle with camera settings.

Well it looks like you found the West End overlook. I think your photo looks pretty good, I am still trying to get my perfect sunset shot, I want dramatic clouds over the city, the fountain going, and the Gateway Clipper boat rounding the point all at the same time. May have to chase that shot all summer.

I will just say that I find my 16-85 to be the best overall dx lens that Nikon produces. It is a perfect walkabout lens.

that would be awesome but the way my husband works on the road so i never know exactly when im going through till that day just about but thanks for the offer :)

Your welcome. But I must correct my misspeaks. It is actually called the West End Overlook so if you come into town early enough you could check out both sites. They are only about 2 miles apart. There is also a spot near the fFort Pitt bridge where you can get a view at water level directly toward the Point and it is the parking lot for one of the inclines that will take you right up to Mt. Washington near the Grandview address.

I always shoot Pittsburgh from the West View overlook. It gives a better view of the convergence of the Three Rivers. If I knew when you were coming I could take you to both locations as I am doing shots of the cityscape at this time.

I have an IMac and would not use anything else. I will put their monitor display up against anyone's. Colors are true and the display always matches what my printer produces.
