Yep, chukar it is. And just as an aside, it sure would help ID'ing birds if you all would include where in the world you took the photo.

If you have the camera set to release mode instead of focus mode, it will not beep. Either in AF-C or AF-S.
John D
I think you have an eastern phoebe. Nice capture by the way, the small birds can be really difficult.
John D
I believe you have a juvenile masked booby. They get white with black wings when they reach adulthood. You didn't say where you were located when you took the shot. The middle of the sea covers a lot of water. My tentative ID is based on a North American location.
John D
On the ground then. A long lens that focuses quickly would be my choice. I'm sure you will get a lot of suggestions.
Post some pictures when you get them next summer.

Ice; Are you going to be in the aircraft, on the drop zone, or in another aircraft?
John D
No, he meant 1200 feet. That's the usual altitude for training jumps for paratroopers. They aren't skydivers. A paratrooper needs to get on the ground as soon as possible.
John D
An old paratrooper.
a bunch of very handsome snakes. And great technique also. Your lighting is just about perfect.
I keep hoping they will fly her into south Florida one of these days. We get B-17s, B 24's, P 51s, corsairs, etc. but one of the B29's has not shown up yet.
John D
What you have here is a great blue heron, not a crane.

Thanks for posting. I grew up the the Adirondacks and I miss the fall colors. And the bird hunting, and the deer season and the skiing later. Had to leave because if you live there there isn't much in the way of making a living. At least there wasn't when I want to college in 1957.

All butterflies have four wings. They usually fly with them held together so they look like two.
John D
Ah Cykdelic, you were too quick for me.
John D
I believe you have a spicebush swallowtail (Pterourus troilus) There are a couple of other swallowtails that look similar.
