If there ever was a time that deleting images in camera was bad for the card, it must have been a long time ago with the early digital cameras.

That is about all I did until Covid. Now I use it as my library book, weather report, traffic report... and phone

Essentially, today's smartphones are extremely portable, pocket-sized computers. Perhaps not ideal for all of one's computing needs, but certainly sufficient for most of them.

Not reacting fast enough when something interesting is unfolding in front of me. By the time I've decided it would make a great photo, it's already too late. Oftentimes this can be a matter of seconds.

Rules, rules and more rules... When you are in Lightroom or photoshop do you REALLY think about rules ? I move sliders, crop and fiddle faddle until it seems RIGHT in my eyes; isn't that whats its all about.

Composition rules are for two types of people - those who have very little confidence in their artistic intuition... and for art critics who are trying to explain why a particular composition works or doesn't work.

Have patience. The Olympus OM 1 has been released only a short while ago. Production hasn't caught up to demand quite yet.

It seems to me that this may very well be the first step toward going totally digital with what we traditionally expected to be in printed form!

First step? Most people under 50 don't bother with hard copy magazine and newspaper subscriptions, they much prefer digital subscriptions which they can view on their digital tablets and phones.

Sit down with your kids and look at the photos together... try to get them understand why it is important to remember and preserve family history and why those old photos are important and meaningful. Tell them stories related to the photos, the people and places they depict. Maybe then they will learn to value the photos enough to not simply toss them out after you are gone.

The camera, although attractive, seems very pricey for what it is. There are newly produced $10 (and under) alternatives available which are essentially the same thing.

Imagine the photographer you could be as soon as you give up on the mirror.

Mirrors are fun.

Ditto. I don’t get that either. As you say, I check my exposure.

But in this particular situation, you don't need to constantly check exposure throughout the proceedings. It's not an outdoor event with variable lighting. You carefully set exposure in the very beginning after you arrive and get into position, and lock it.

The chimper is potentially missing photo opportunities. (Or perhaps he is simply trying to figure out the camera's menu?)

When I look at images shot with mirrorless cameras and compare them to images produced by DSLR cameras, I see very little difference.

Same here. I really should throw it out at this point as it is highly unlikely I will ever use it again. USB flash drives are just too convenient.

True that! And I guarantee you the market is going to be hit with a slug of used lenses for cheap next year as the market and economy slides off into the ocean.

People have been claiming such guarantees for decades. We'll see.
