I felt this was my best photograph in 2013. There was an element of luck involved, and an element of planning. I knew an April storm was clearing, and I had positioned myself at a spectacular scenic point. The swirling clouds and constantly changing light were magnificent. The luck involved the elk walking out. Shot at 300 mm on a DX sensor, Nikon D90.

Justice is served by both in this case

If you remember the Red Dog from the 50's, you must know it was more than a saloon at the time. Nice shot. I have some slides showing the original. I'll try to dig them out.

This old sailor was trying to be politically correct thinking about the younger audience

Thanks to all for the nice comments. Should I have photoshopped some to reduce the streetlight rays and lens flare? I couldn't decide.

My vote is keep the flare it is not severe enough to ruin the photo but makes it look good

Wow, the Rebel seems a popular choice. I offered to take a picture for a couple using their Rebel. It felt lighter than my 60d and not as solid. I suppose my best option is a hands-on visit at a local shop.

....and if you like a touch screen the T4i abad above have it. To me a great feature especially when shooting from a tripod at night

Things don't change much

Paint the doors and change flags. In case anyone notices the two signs on either side of the doors on mine the dogs are facing the same way, there was an obstruction in front of the left door and sign so I copied and pasted the right door and sign to the left side.

Our town tends to be a tourist destination in Summer and again around Fall Color time. This one reminds me of a Norman Rockwell.

Great pic. Nothing like shooting in manual mode to get the best exposures.

Very nice photo
Back in the fifties I was a Coast Guard Electrician's Mate operating out of the base in Detroit and Betsie was one of the lights that I was maintenance electrician for along with all the lights on western Michigan from Manitou Shoals to the Indianna border

I use a T4i and an T1i so lens fit both. Always carry my point and shoot (Pentax Optico RZ18) just in case there is a photo op handy. Wife keeps a Nikon Coolpix handy in her purse.

Yes I agree, very smart picture in one of the most beautiful parks I have seen. One of the jewels of San Diego.
