This problem just started. I plug my card reader with a SD card in it with pictures into my iMac. A preview of the pictures show up on the monitor. I click on the import button and I get a screen that says "Some import operations were not performed." Then it says "The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (56) This is followed by a list of 56 files described DSC3451.JPG, etc. What could be the problem? Did I somehow change a setting? Thanks in advance. Any suggestions are appreciated. This is very frustrating. I even tried a new card reader with the same results

A few others suggest the same....Don't open LR yet. 1st, create a folder on your desktop and don't worry about a name. Insert your card into your Mac, open card, navigate to the folder on your card, open, select all, drag and copy files to the new folder on your desktop. Now, open LR (have peace of mind knowing that all operations regarding navigation of folders and individual pics and renaming folders and pics can be done safely within LR). Once LR has launched, within LR, press Import. On the left panel, navigate to that folder you just created, select and say Import. After the import process, that folder will be in the top level on the left side of LR. Select it and move it down into Lightroom Pictures. Then, right click and choose Rename, if you desire. Also any pic in any folder within LR can be moved or renamed. Do everything WITHIN LR.
