I was in the Army from Oct '60 and retired Jun '81. I did spend the year of Jun '67 - '68 in Vietnam. I was hit with a sad part of reference to my military career just last year, when I commented to my 51-yr-old daughter something along the line of not having received any recognition for Veterans' Day from anyone in the family - be it a card or a well-wishing comment or whatever. I wasn't complaining, as such, just making a comment. She responded something in return that the military is "just a line of work that someone chooses; and, that's up to them." I believe that she might have been thinking of other family members who are fire fighters, or whatever; but it hit me along the line of when I passed through California airports on the way back from 'Nam, and had to try to hide being in uniform. I will now try to keep a 'low profile' as Veteran's Day / Week come up again next year . . .

Welcome home brother and thank you for your service! Some people don't realize that the oath that we give to our nation is our solemn word that we will do our duty to our country and fellow men/women. Also most people don't know or realize that the monthly stipend that we receive is in actually a retainer we can be recalled to duty at any time. No need for low profiles on any day. As always "This we'll Defend" "Semper Paratus" Ex Army/U.S.C.G.!//
