Wordy title, I realize, but not mine. A newspaper article came out about this newly formed non-profit which would be engaged in chronicling all the parks in the area, of which I later discovered are 200. That includes Reno and Sparks, outlying areas and even those in Washoe Valley. The organizers were looking for photographers to come forth and volunteer to take on a park, photograph it four times a year, at the near identical spot each time aided by an initial set up of GPS and compass setting plus a work sheet on the camera settings, et al.
Nice shots, looks like a nice place to live.
I volunteered for Newlands round-about, since I plant and maintain the flower bed there, and also took on Newlands park proper which is across the street on the bluff side. This archive will be a fascinating legacy for all residents to see, as it progresses over time. Some 1900s photos are already linked to the newest photo versions of our oldest parks and it is hoped that eventually other historical photos will be found and also linked to parks that currently have none. Such as Newlands, no historical stuff located to date.
This is quite a challenge to any photographer, plus, because it has certain parameters, one cannot get too artsy in the process no matter the temptation. A blend is best.
