Hello All

When I depress the shutter release to take a photo I hear what sounds like the shutter actuating,
but no photo is taken . The battery has a full charge, SD card is empty (checked on another camera),
lens is installed and locked (tried several lens, both Sigma and Nikon), lens cover is off.
Anyone with any ideas??? Went through several resets, still no luckĀ…

Thanks
WALT

I had the same problem with my D80. Your shutter mechanism is worn out or broken, Rick on here fixed my D80... his contact information is:

good luck, unfortunately Nikon will not repair your camera, but he should be able to.

I might be biased, but I look on a mirrorless as being nothing more than a glorified point and shoot with interchangeable lenses.

Since most of the bulk and weight of a camera are due to zoom lenses and the laws of physics apply equally to both DSLR and mirrorless lenses I won't save significant weight or bulk by switching.

Also, if I want to see what my finished work will look like I can either look at the LCD on the back of my DSLR -- which is about as large as the LCD on the back of the mirrorless camera or, better yet, run wireless tethered to my Android Tablet with its relatively large screen.

Sorry, I can't see any advantage to me of a mirrorless camera.

That's not to say that mirrorless sales for entry level interchangeable cameras may surpass DSLR sales in the future, but then GM sells a lot more Chevrolets than they do Cadillacs.

In addition I am satisfied with the results I get with my DSLR and do not believe that I could obtain better results using a mirrorless camera so I have no interest in switching.

I believe that my feelings are representative of most DSLR users.

I am with Jerry, I have noticed that Target and Walmart has quit selling the mirrorless cameras in my area. It just looks like a point and shoot with an expense price tag and doesn't look professional. The video must be a push for sales. I have looked at mirrorless cameras long and hard and can't seem to justify paying the price. Those are my thoughts but each person to his own.

I WAS A NYI STUDENT,COMPLETED COURSE !! AFTER COMPLETION, AND RECEIVING CERTIFICATE, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR GRADUATES, THEY SHOULD FOLLOW UP ON THEIR STUDENTS!! ALL THEY WANT IS TAKE THE MONEY!!

Jimmy I feel your pain. I took NYI course and ended up being disappointed with it. Their course is mediocre, their communication is mediocre, their critics are mediocre. I have written letters and emailed and many times never heard back from them. Unless you have taken the course, you may not understand the frustration. I certainly would recommend other courses over NIY. These are just my thoughts and everyone has a right to their own opinion.

What magnification on a telescope will produce a decent size image of the moon? I know nothing about telescopes and I have watched a few youtube videos but they are in reference to star patterns, constellations, etc. I want large images of the moon. I have a 70-300mm Nikkor lens for my DSLR but the images are still small. How can I find out about magnification of telescope? Thanks for your input.

GOOD-BYE GRANDPA

A father put his 3 year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which ended by saying,
"God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma and good-bye Grandpa."

The father asked, "Why did you say good-bye Grandpa?"

The little girl said, "I don't know daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do."

The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.
A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers which went like this,
"God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and good-bye Grandma."

The next day the grandmother died.

"Holy crap" thought the father, "this kid is in contact with the other side."

Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed, the dad heard her say, "God bless Mommy and good-bye Daddy."

He practically went into shock. He couldn't sleep all night and got up at the crack of dawn to go to his office.
He was nervous as a cat all day, had lunch and watched the clock. He figured if he could get by until midnight,
he would be okay. He felt safe in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day he stayed there,
drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound. Finally midnight arrived; he breathed a sigh of relief and went home.

When he got home his wife said, "I've never seen you work so late. What's the matter?"

He said, "I don't want to talk about it, I've just spent the worst day of my life."

She said, "You think you had a bad day, you'll never believe what happened to me.
This morning my golf pro dropped dead in the middle of my lesson!"

Did you ever wonder why earrings became so popular with men?

A man is at work one day when he notices that his co-worker is wearing an earring. The man knows his co-worker to be a normally conservative fellow, and is curious about his sudden change in "fashion sense".

The man walks up to him and says, "I didn't know you were into earrings."

"Don't make such a big deal, it's only an earring," he replies sheepishly.

His friend falls silent for a few minutes, but then his curiosity prods him to ask, "So, how long have you been wearing one?"

"Ever since my wife found it in my truck."

I always wondered how this trend got started!
