I've used DNG files since the beginning. During import, I save a copy of the NEF file to an external drive, just in case, but I've never needed them.

I particularly like the idea that all edits are stored within the DNG file, as opposed to LR writing out a separate XMP sidecar file.

I agree with Bruce. Saving your original file and DNG file with any changes you may have made in LR is probably the best way to go but who knows what the future may bring. Though I believe if sometime in the future someone comes up with a better solution or should Adobe abandon DNG that any number of software manufacturers will come up with a converter to the new "improved" format. ;)

Why not, It all depends upon the quality you are looking for.You are happy with your 24-70 2.8. I am not. I am sure their is variation from lens to lens within a given production run.

Perhaps you have a bad copy or it needs to be calibrated with your camera. You don't say what camera or whose 24-70 you are using for your comparison. Others, including myself are more than happy with our 24-70 zoom. ;)

Of course. Some zooms are better than others. And the “better” zooms come with a matching price tag. And are heavier to carry around.

So instead, for example, I can make a decision- either carry my 24-70 f2.8 or I could take along a 24, 35, 50 and perhaps a 70 mm if one is even available? Don't think so. ;)

Welcome to the Hog, forts. For the few extra bucks involved I would stick with OEM from trusted sources such as those nicksr enumerated. ;)

Nice job, Jules. Love lacrosse, I have three grandsons who play the game and as a consequence shoot lacrosse games a lot. You capture some nice shots. ;)

Thanks for the visit David....
It still weeps and I believe they said that there is one remaining crew member still alive, and when he passes the Arizona will no longer weep....
that's a beautiful thought to believe!

Indeed. And, again thanks for posting this series. ;)

Thanks for this series Angela. Seventy-four years later and oil is still seeping from the Arizona- amazing. This "day of infamy" awoke a "sleeping giant" and formed the greatest generation in American history. ;)

Great job of panning. I didn't have many keepers last time I was at a racetrack. I think part of the problem was I set the bar pretty high by being too close to the cars. Hopefully better luck next year. ;)
