Fantastic image! You've done it all. Composition, lighting, and above all your willingness to put yourself in a dangerous position! Wall hanger.👍👌

Me thinks you liked it

This is a great photo of a beautiful young lady and horse. Excellent. I don't think it could be any better. Well worth framing and hung on the wall. Rich

She is quite lovely and very game. She lived at the ranch next door. That being a 15 minute drive.

Interesting! Her reverse eyelashes would put me out of my element too.

It was the reverse eyelashes that encouraged me to work with her.

If this were my image (I should be so lucky!), I'd lighten the chin left shadow, lose the hair shadow from the forehead, smooth it all down in DeNoise, bump the highlights with a bit of dodging and aim for a china doll look - all that red would really make it worthwhile. Of course, that may not be what you would do!

Wow! Great options. Really out of my element.

I think you achieved your goal of, "drama." This is a real character study, IMO.

It would be interesting to hear what your model had in mind with the makeup, etc. She did have a "look" in mind. Whatever "her look" it seems to be a dichotomy when it comes to her tattoo. The makeup looks to be something that one would see on an antique doll. The dress and background could play into that "look," as well. Altogether this is a striking photo.
I think you achieved your goal of, "drama.&qu... (show quote)

Thank you for your detailed observations. All of the models were bizarre in some way. I'll post a couple when I get the chance. The workshop topic allowed us to work with all the models and together in ways we created.

Super-cool, Byron! Terrific shot in all ways. I admire your bravery

Thanks Linda! In the heat of anticipation for the potential outcomes, there was no bravery involved, just total focus. Being in the moment is what photography does for me. I am grateful for every opportunity.

This looks like a prize winning shot to me, Byron. Everything about it is perfect from the composition to the unusual angle. How you were able to use a wide angle aimed up and not have lens distortion is amazing. Beautiful work!!

Rick Sammon, our workshop leader, suggested this technique after trying it at another workshop with wild horses in France. This guy never disappoints me. This was my forth workshop with him in the last 7 years and I always come away with my best work. Thanks for your comments!

Love this shot. The composition and exposure are flawless, and also very sharp. Did you pan with the rider taking shots in the burst mode or did you just wait until they were position to take the shot.

Thanks for the compliments. No time to pan so after a couple of practice runs I found my position/ settings and held down the shutter in burst mode.

Intriguing image, Byron! I don't photograph people, let alone in a portrait type setting, but I enjoy the lighting, the make-up and hairstyle, the dress, and the surprise of the tattoo. Very interesting and beautifully captured.

Thanks Linda! Seems that the tattoo is mostly ok or an added bit of drama.

Welcome to Close up, Byron. This is a gorgeous shot. If you used a WA lens, you must have been awfully close to the action. I think your technique (& daring) is really special. Super results.

Trust in ones self, a bit of daring and the knowledge that this rider was in control. Thank you for the comments!

Glad to be among such an inspiring bunch. I read you guys often so it is about time I rode in with my rope swinging.
