I can see why these would be among your favorites, Jim. They are
all quite captivating. And I even learned something new. Up until
I say image #2, I didn't know birds could walk on stilts!

The first one might be a bit off the rails 'cuz it's more background than bokeh, #2 has the star thing going, #3 was using the world as my tripod at the Korea Memorial in DC, and #4 'cuz I'm a big spaniel fan!

Really nice photos. Well done.

Very nice start, Pat. This one is drawing a lot of participation already. It even prompted me to get out and try something new with the camera and stay out of the archives. There is a prediction of a hard freeze here abouts so I didn't go very far to capture something.

Nice set.

I usually do landscapes so most of my imagery is sharp from foreground to background. The following are images I took at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Oshkosh, Wisconsin a few years ago. The backgrounds were usually far away but also done in shade. The starbursts are less likely in those circumstances, so the softer blurred type look to the backgrounds was simple to capture

Wonderful photos. Well done.

Thanks for the lessons and thanks for hosting this challenge. It looks exciting, with a large number of entries already. I hope I can meet this challenge. I do have a few to offer here on day two.

Well done.
