It matters a lot that someone would embrace a relatively new technology and grow as it grew. You've seen more from behind a camera than most will see in a lifetime. Congratulations!

For the most part, it has been a great joy, but it has had its share of disappointments and frustrations.

Thanks so much for your comments. Photography has never been an obsession for me, but it has been a great deterrent to boredom.

Wow thats terrific, As i too have been bitten by the photo bug long ago as well, but you have me beat in years, for me it was 62 years ago, that I received my first camera, somewhat similar to yours!.for my 8th birthday, i got a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Camera, which took 620 roll film.and the rest is history.....

Thanks for the comment. I remember the Hawkeye quite well. I gave several of them to children as Christmas or birthday gifts.

Congratulations! My first camera also cost ninety-eight cents, but it wasn't a Kodak, and the year was about 1955.

Thank you so much. It is nice to hear from one of UHH's premier members. Always active, always informative and helpful. Never rude or condescending. Thanks.

Now that is a great story from another "old timer" in the art. I wish you many more years of continued success with your hopefully updated camera.

Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, cameras are somewhat like people - some become friends, others remain as mere acquaintances. I still keep my first, second and fourth cameras from the distant past. All are in working order, but I keep them as treasured mementos of a time long past, when all was new and exciting.

Well done Sir. Long may you continue, although I suspect the photo world them was WAY different from anything from anything you may recognise now!!

Thanks for the kind comment. Yes, things were very different then. My first roll of film was Kodak Verichrome, an orthochromatic emulsion (not red sensitive). The film was rated at Weston 12, equivalent to ISO 16 today. The film cost 25 cents a roll, and 50 cents to develop and make eight little contact prints, 1 5/8 x 2 1/8 inches. The little Brownie camera had a single element meniscus lens, f/11 and a single fixed shutter speed, 1/25 second. So, it was not an action camera, it was suited only for bright sunlight.
