Thank to all that have responded and have done their own PP. There are some really good ones that have been done. I have really enjoyed learning the different ways of composition and I knew that the UHH group is the place to learn.

Yes there were I few simple things I forgot to do like, leveled the horizon, lamp post being removed, all in all I have learned a lot from you all thanks.

Oh - it goes back to my film days and competition night with live judges - Pro photographers - when I look at that photo I can hear a judge saying -" if you moved here or there you would not have that pole in the photo - if you waited a few minutes those people would be gone -it is the same as you tweeking the color & lighting -the judge would be saying " if you had your own darkroom you could lighten this & bring out more color"
PP in photoshop is my hobby as much a the photography - I take a lot of photos that are hands off with the PP -but than I take a lot that some tweeking & editing helps.
I my humble opinion - you have a great photo there.
Oh - it goes back to my film days and competition ... (show quote)

Thanks 77firebird.

Now I really like that one, I can still make out the tree line in the background and it still has that foggy fell to it.

This is a camera pole for the city of Memphis----LOL this was taken on the Riverfront looking south. It was a rainy day and very overcast.

As you have said it's ok

I have left the path in because it leads the eye into the image

I see how the light pole is a distraction and I do like the tighter crop. Thanks JR1 I think I am going to do a little more editing on it.

77firebird … I like the “composition” >> large, flat structure at bottom left contrasting with the small bridge and smaller distant land … looks like you increased the brightness(or exposure) and also the saturation… I would try using an HDR procedure in Photoshop (I have cs4 so your cs6 could easily handle that) in order to maintain the colors (and brightness) of the water and clouds .. I expect you are losing some details in the clouds and water I would also try to separate the water and clouds into their own layers to play around with
I really like the snap overall with the “closeup” curving away and to the right far distance
But I must admit I am not an expert in cameras or Photoshop but have developed my own style over the years
I apologize for commenting beyond the composition
77firebird … I like the “composition” >> lar... (show quote)

Thanks for the comments and no need for apologizing. I did up the exposure but then used the mask to take it off the clouds to keep the dark look, then I use the hue and saturation to up the color of the grass and masked everything else off. The one thing I have noticed is that I needed to leave the river dark not bright like it is

If I were allowed to adjust the shot I would crop off a lot of the foreground

Any and all may download and do your own magic and repost. That I would love to see how others would do this.

I like #1 I could be wrong but it looks like in #2 you corrected the AWB and add to much yellow for my taste. I would like to see the one that would be about 1/2 the yellow add. JMO

Honestly, the edited photo is much better.

The photograph is a casual snap to me, a record of something you may want to remember, there is no point of interest and it also needs straightening it is leaning to the left as can be seen from the lamp thing and the water

Thanks JR1 for taking the time to post. I have been out working on my composition of photos. I was using the bridge in the background for point of interest. As for the tilt you are right I forgot to correct that, I was using my Canon 10-22 lens and forgot all about correcting the tilt.

Would like some input on the editing. This looks to be HDR but did not run it thru a HDR editing software but I like it. Would also like some input on the composition of the photo.

Looking to get a new computer. how does everyone feel about the i mac desktop?

I just got a i mac 27" a couple weeks ago. There is a learning curve and you will use Youtube alot to on how to work the simple things like removing programs when there is not a uninstall.exe.

With that said, I love it, FAST FAST FAST, and takes up a lot less desk real estate because it is all-in-one. You will have to buy a external cd-rom because they took it out to make it slimmer.
