I am sure that modernization will include cramming an extra hundred or so passengers in. Anything to make it more comfortable for the flying public.

Sorry, I posted this initially in discussion. It belongs here.

I found this fir cone and couldn't resist getting a picture of it.

Shot with canon 90D and canon 100mm macro.
This is a stack of 150 images processed in Affinity Photo. This is as shot except a slight brightening overall.

That sounds like a "take it to court" situation. There would be no legitimate reason to search for contraband. Many illegal searches have been thrown out of court.

If you read the post, it says that the individual was arrested for DWI. He has already been arrested and that becomes the probable cause for the search of the car. Anything found can and will be used in court the same as anything that you might say.

Unlikely that this one would be tossed.

In my Department if you make a DWI arrest you take the driver into custody and then call the tow truck. You have to do a complete inventory of the vehicle to make sure the operator doesn't accuse you of steeling anything in the vehicle. The operator signs the inventory stating that the inventory is correct. Most times contraband is found during the inventory which is cause for arrest.

But you have already arrested them. Presumably they failed a breath test first. That becomes a probable cause and you are just adding charges to the DWI.

first they have to ask if they can search, if refused what are they hiding? That could be reasonable cause or they could just arrest the driver and then search .

True, they could be hiding something, or maybe they are standing on their civil rights against search without a warrant.

I have to say that I love the new format. I especially like having to search for the threads that I want to read even more than before. The frustration that this gives is awesome. Joined with the frustration of modern life it just fits right in. Politics has nothing on this change. Way to go!

There are two sides to opioid use/abuse. As others have mentioned there is a very high cost to society beyond the deaths from abuse. This is a real issue that society does need to deal with. But as usual they way to deal with it is to knee jerk and limit all use of the opioids. And while there is definitely some cause for the argument that there was over prescription (there was some) it is wrong to say that most addicts started from over prescription. There were also some doctors that saw a cash cow and prescribed to addicts. They were not the norm by any means. Most addicts started on the street with street drugs.

The knee jerk is to make it more difficult for doctors to prescribe strong pain control when it is needed. I have generally been fortunate to have providers that will prescribe but I know providers that will give a minimum dose for a very short time even after major surgery. There were doctors that would say that pain is a normal part of life so buck up even though research shows that recovery is better when a person is not stressed by pain.

Along the same lines we have research showing that in general doctors prescribe less pain management for women and persons of color.

Long winded way of saying that opioids have a place, a very necessary place, and it would be best if there were leveler heads making policy.

"$100,000 is a stack of $1 bills about 67 feet tall (wrapped tightly)."

Anybody who would stack 100,000 $1 bills is not wrapped too tightly and would unlikely be unable to wrap the bills too tightly by they time they were done.

There has been a court decision re AI.
The judge ruled that you cannot copyright an AI image because it isn't created by a human.

It was the copyright appeals office that made that ruling. It was based on a very large image that was in no way a photograph. While the base image was created using AI it was strongly manipulated in LR and later gigapixel. I suspect that this case will eventually end up in court with the copyright office being the defendant and it will eventually go the the supreme court.

I have looked at the image and read what was involved in actually making the image. In addition to over 600 individual instruction sets being given to the AI there were hours of work on LR to achieve the final image. I believe that the copyright office was wrong.

These images are excellent and in the area of stock photos they are quite interesting.

I have been receiving emails saying that my accounts are being canceled if I don't act at once. Some of them are accounts where I don't even have accounts. I did reply about two years ago to a Geek Squad one and they almost got me. I always check the email address on any of these things and the fakes always have an email that looks off.

Be careful. Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't trying to get you.

Some of these factors are considered to be part of the ‘film experience’. For example, the 36 exp limit reduces long burst - followed by deciding which of a series of virtually identical photos to keep - and having to decide whether to take photos right now or wait a while. I take hundreds of film pictures now, and none them involve flash bulbs nor a hood nor an external meter {I use the same film camera with the same internal meter and same electronic flash to photograph my grand-daughter that I used to photograph her mother}.

Did you have to walk uphill to school and home in the 6 foot deep snow too.

Actually I agree with you on this. but a real experience would be to start doing daguerreotype for some similar process with the big box camera. And for a real experience try doing it in 8X10 or larger format. Of course the one negative to all this is that you have to mark everything as a hazardous chemical. But think of the convenience of a large format and all that goes with it. and of course using a tray of flash powder would be a blast.

While fakes are possible the law enforcement agencies (at least the ones that follow the rules) rely on chain of custody rules even now and always before. This at least provides some protections that the digital or film files have not been altered. Of course it presumes that the photographer has integrity and is not altering the images.

Almost as long as photography has existed people have manipulated images to make them other than what the camera initially saw. I bet it has even existed almost as long as taking nudes or flat out porn.
