I thought you might want to know that there are no photos available, or at least that is what happens when opening Dropbox 🤷‍♂️. Folder Does Not Exist is exactly what it says

I never knew these existed. Pretty cool concept. This is for only these two lenses?

That 42mp does come in handy when I have to crop a lot and also when i want a LOT of detail. Otherwise, 24mp is plenty! GEEEEZ! 12 and even 5 back when was sufficient.

Steve, that will depend mostly on the phone camera’s resolution. My iPhone 11 captures 4032x3024 images. Printed at 300 dots per inch this suggests a print no larger than 10x13 from an uncropped photo. At 300 dpi you can pretty much hold the picture right up to your face without seeing pixelation.

I’ve personally printed up to 11 inches on the long side in photo books from a phone photo without any trouble. I’ve not tried larger than that, not because of any resolution issues but because I haven’t needed to.

You can probably print larger than 10x13 if the viewing space for the photo is sufficiently large. I wouldn’t do that in a book because they’re typically held in a lap or on a table less than two feet from your face. But on a wall people will just stand back a little farther to look at large pictures at lower dpi levels and they’ll look fine.

You can also upscale photos using popular software programs to add resolution. It won’t be perfect because the software is guessing what the detail looks like, but the results I’ve seen from several software packages range from good to impressive.

Other smartphone cameras can have larger or smaller resolution, so you’ll need to look at the specific camera image to know for certain how large it will print.

Also note that the image resolution can be misleading regarding how much detail is actually captured in the photo. Night shots, for example, may have less apparent resolution as the phone combines several photos into one image. If there’s any motion of the camera or in the subject matter the results will not be crisp. But these photos can have their own charm.
Steve, that will depend mostly on the phone camera... (show quote)

Exactly the info I was looking for! Thanks! I have Luminar Neo that has it's own "Upscale" mode that seems to work fairly well but I know exactly what you mean. My goal is to always look for one image from any shoot that I do that I can print so thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. Right now I have an iPhone XS that gives me 4032 x 3024 at 12mp. I also use the Camera Pro app that enable full control over the images like ISO etc and also give you RAW. But, I never tried to print something. That's always come from my full frame Sony A7rII so I have a tough image maker to compare anything I print from an iPhone to but I see some excellent images coming from phone cameras more and more and I would love to eventually down size whenever possible.

Thanks for clarifying. I don't change my cellphone images prior to printing, it works the same as photos taken with my DSLR.

I know that images will sometimes be changed for emailing though, but that will be automatic.

How large can you print without losing any details?

Thanks for looking and for your compliment and question. I can't answer your entire question.

I don't print photos submitted by other photographers without their permission. And my own photos are printed rarely, but then they are done so from my original images, or my edited versions.

All that being said, welcome to this section, and I will look forward to seeing some of your phone photos.

Thanks! I'm only looking for anyone's experience printing cellphone images. If you have some experience in that I'd appreciate any input that you may have.

I've posted a couple of photos from my visit to Bountiful Lake a few weeks ago in previous posts. I've visited the lake a couple of times since and the Grand Canyon (for the first time!), but my photo processing computers are packed away as we prepare to sell our house, so I keep coming back to these.

iPhone 11, processed in Lightroom Mobile.

Hi!

I just joined this section of the Hog and I am curious if you guys ever print these images? I so, how does that work out? How large can you get? Do you have to upscale at all to do so? Whatever you can tell me because some of the images are really nice.

We're in the south end of Washington state for a family reunion. We chose to camp in our tent ⛺️ instead of staying in a motel.

The campground we found is nearly 30 miles from the reunion location. But it's peaceful!

Enjoy if you can.

Hi!

I just subscribed to this section and I am curious. Do you guys print any of these images posted in this section of the Hog? If so, how does that work out? How large can you get? Do you have to upscale? I'd really like to know because some of the images are really nice.

You would have to check, I will also, if there's an adapter needed and one is made if the mount is different. Do you know the type of mount it is?

I don't know how in demand they are but it's a great little lens. Did I infer that they were?

It is! I've always LOVED the "look" of Minolta glass!

I have a beautiful Minolta Rokkor-X PG f1.4 lens. It's in Mint cosmetic condition! I had it for my Sony full frame, but I recently downsized so I will not be needing it any longer. These are on eBay for an average price of $75 give or take, with the better ones going for $100 or more. Besides it's great condition it has been professionally cleaned. Glass is clear with no fungus or haze that appears over time in many of these older lenses. It includes front and rear caps. I'm asking $100, plus $10 for shipping to the lower 48.

I also have a Sony FE to Minolta adapter, if you are interested. I can include that at n/c if you need it.

PS I noticed in the photos that there appears to be a piece of lint on the lens that I didn't see. It's no longer there.
