Hi all,
Last week, I had the chance to visit this refuge. I took the snow geese photos near the refuge and the rest specially of the tundra swans at the refuge.
Thanks for viewing, will appreciate any critique.

This house is in my neighborhood. The owner decorate the house with Christmas lights every year. This year I took the photos when still dusk light to capture the lights with beautiful lights. I also played with zoom in and zoom out technique.

Great photos. I am impressed with the sharpness of these photos. Could you please let me know as which lens did you use? Thanks.

Hi all,
On Thursday last, I went to Black Water Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge, Maryland. I saw a blue heron who had a snake in its beak and was struggling to eat it. Snake was giving him hard time. When the heron saw me, it flew with the snake hanging from its beak. I keep on shooting until the blue heron swallowed the snake.

Both images are beautiful. I think if for the second you would have step back a few yards, lower your tripod or sit on the ground take the photo, for me it would have been more interesting. When you look at the photo, your eyes immediately go to the house. If as I mentioned, you would have taken the photo, then the eyes get the leading line and travel to the image which is house and then to the background. Well, that is my opinion.

I think the usage of ND filters the most is cut down the amount of light. You cannot shoot with small aperture and small ISO in bright day light. It is up to you as what kind of effect you want to give to your seen and how much amount of light you want to cut so use the desired stop accordingly. It is great for moving clouds, rushing water and water falls. A polarizer cuts down the light by two stop but there are times when you want more stops. I have used it after sunset on lake to make my exposure for two to three minutes. Some people will do even more. This filter allows you to shoot at a slow shutter speed.

Hi SteveR,
I have Tiffen variable filter. I have used it but not a lot. I think it is a great filter. My recommendation for using this filter is that do not go up to the maximum range i.e. 8 stop but stay within 6-7 stop. you will get X pattern if used to the maximum range.. One thing more that you cannot use lens cap when the filter is on the lens.

Hi all,
Yesterday I went to look for the snow geese at the refuge but they were there as yet. I took photos of the blue heron and white pelican which were far away even beyond the reach of 560mm to see them up close. I saw beautiful sunset there. I am sharing these photos with our members.

Thanks,
Mohammed
