Not sure I quite followed the argument because EF lenses on crop sensor Canons are great. Check out amazing images from gregoryd45: the Canon EF 70-300 mm IS USM with a Canon T2i.
I just bought a used version of this lens and love it on my T3i.
Linda, I probably didn't explain well enough. Here's the video:

Just watched a youtube video that discussed merits of matching lenses with the proper body, i.e. Canon EF-S with like bodies (7dmk2, 70d, rebels, etc) and EF with same (5dmk2, 6d, etc). Same rules for Nikon and others. The argument was made pretty convincingly that unless cropping, lens intended for cropped or not should be used with their respective design target bodies and vice versa. And that, lens aperture as well as focal length needs to be multiplied by the crop factor to determine FF equivalency. Okay, I buy that. But, if we strictly observe that recommendation, there don't seem to be many telephoto zooms designed specifically for cropped Canon bodies since the quality lens are all EFs. The longest telephoto zoom (Canon mount) for cropped bodies that I've found is the Tamron 16-300mm??
Like "gawler," go to the rescuedfilm.com site and watch the video, also check the archives tab. Great stuff, thx "bcheary." Much appreciated.
Canon 70d
Canon G16
Canon SX50
Canon S100
Thanks,Mikey. Enjoyable watch, for sure.
Don't forget another obvious that should be considered. Call Canon customer service and request a paper copy of the manual. Most of the time, they won't even ask you for a reason. Once, I was asked "why" and I simply told them that printing at a copy facility was cost prohibitive. The customer representative agreed and that was that.
Sweet!!! Tell me you didn't crop!!!

No need to feel stupid. These things happen. You'll get more chances to feel stupid. We all do! :-D
I consider it a personal talent that's evidence that I'm getting off my a$$ and doing something.

In the days of film.Nikon were smaller to fit into a women's hand, so were considered a "woman's camera". Canon were considered a "work horse" and were favoured by "in the field" journalists. Olympus were favoured by boy scouts and other homo-sexuals. No-on liked Pentax.
Huh-oh! Someone passed out the grenades!
Surreal step back in time. Nice.

Another alternative buying method is found on the BestBuy website. It's the Open Box option. I recently got a $212 camera for $130, and it has all the warranties and return options as an unopened box.
Ditto Speedy. A couple months ago, I bought a Canon G16 (list $450) open box at BB for $300. Pays to keep the eyes open, deals do come up.

Yep, got the 199.99 deal, knew I should have waited another week. But, ??? They may not have had them, the next week. Looks brand new to me.
You did well. I bought a refurb SX50 few months ago for $315 and was pretty proud of myself.
