If you posted your photos to Gallery, they are in the right place. Here is your topic history:

In the emailed digest, "upcoming topics" are random and ever-changing. The section of the digest called "Photo Gallery" is a sampling - some days there are twice as many Gallery topics posted as will fit into the digest. This is the full Photo Gallery: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-5-1.html

.

Thank you Linda. I believe that answers my question.

Just a guess, they might have been moved to a subject specific area?...

I guess that's a possibility, but they were just photos.

I noticed that the last few times I posted photos in the Photo Gallery, they would show up in new topics for an hour or so and then they disappear. They never show up in the Photo Gallery. Am I doing something wrong.

If you ever wondered why the United States outsources much of its cast iron products and why so much of it is no longer made here....perhaps this is why.

Not sure about where you live, but in Pa. there are still several active foundries.

Nice weather if dressed appropriately.

I find the first picture to be very striking. It is tack sharp against the back ground. The others are very nice also, but the first one really caught my eye.

The most photographed bridge, by me anyway.

In the early 60's, I lived in Novato, California. I spent a lot of time with my dad going to San Francisco to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge. Very nice images and they bring back fond memories. Thanks for sharing.

In the old, regulated, ICC days, it was nearly impossible. "Common carriers" were just that, whomever, whatever needed to be shipped, cost everyone the same tariff. There were some discounts available, and our purchasing and transportation folks took advantage of guaranteed CL, TL, and TL pool car and truck rates, when they contracted with a lot of the carriers. Of course when you're guaranteeing carloads of vehicle engines, transmissions, truckloads of A/C and trim parts, etc., you do get "respect".

Indeed. Deregulation changed a lot of things.

In the "I'll Never Understand Shipping Rates" department, my latest experience tops them all. Last week I shipped an item from my home in Southside Virginia to an address in Northern Virginia, about 220 miles straight up US 29. Two days ago I shipped an identical article, same weight and everything, to Las Cruces, NM. The shipping costs via UPS to Northern Virginia was $11 and change. The shipping costs to Las Cruces was also $11 and change yet the distance was 1200 miles or more to Las Cruces. Both items were shipped Ground with no added insurance. Talk about a Byzantine rate schedule!

They give discounts on shipments traveling shipping lanes the have fewer shipments to entice shippers to ship with them to that area of the country. The new Mexico lane is probably not as profitable for them from your area. Hence the discount.

For the first two weeks of September, we were fortunate to spend time on Fire Island, the barrier beach off the south shore of Long Island. Naturally, I got out every morning to see what the birds might be doing. The island hosts the shoreline, obviously, but also a mixed pine and deciduous woodlands along the interior to the island. In addition to the local birds, we had a few migrants passing through.

I took several thousand shots over the time, but I'm pleased to present some of my better captures.

Enjoy!

Taken during a Peter Lerro workshop last weekend. Actually, my first Milky Way shot. It was rainy and cloudy for the entire workshop except for 45 minutes at 2:00 am Sun. morning when the clouds broke up. All the thanks go to Pete Lerro for a positive attitude, getting us to this location, and never giving up. I would never have guessed it would work out.

Excellent shot. I think a wall hanger Maybe?
