I had a butterfly like that once that I really wanted to keep as a pet. It even let me pick it up and I walked around with it on my head. It happened before I was bitten by the Nikon bug else I would have filled a big memory card with shots of him. I wanted to put him on my dog's nose for a snapshot and call it
"The Silence of the Labs".

LOL.. nice visual on that one.

Has anyone used one of these triggers?
I am thinking of investing in one

I use the trigger made by Ubertronix..
I had one of the original entry level models but upgraded to the lightning and laser model that allows you to set the sensitivity.
Prior to that I only had good capture in dark scenario's and I do mean dark.
With the newer model I have had better luck.
We haven't had a lot of rain but I did get this shot last week using my trigger.

He who pushes the button owns the copyright. Remember that cellphone selfie of many actors that Ellen DeGeneres took, with Bradley Cooper pushing the button? Technically, Bradley owns that shot, although Ellen posted it online.

So what happens when a monkey grabs your camera and starts taking pictures? Wikipedia pushed the point, and it went to court. No one owns the copyright. It becomes public domain. The owner of the camera that took the selfie below has no rights to the image that could have been a mealticket for him. Sadly, monkeys cannot hold copyrights, despite their opposable thumbs.
He who pushes the button owns the copyright. Reme... (show quote)

I'd like to play devils advocate for just a moment.
Does that mean that the photos that we shoot using laser trip devices or lightning detectors are not our copyright material?
Using this standard that they are setting we would not.
WE didn't press the shutter, the tripper did. Or in the case of the hummingbird tripping a laser trigger, the hummingbird did it...
Food for thought.

Self print up to 13 X 19 and I also cut my own mats.
Anything larger goes to Costco. If you don't like the print they will redo it or not charge and destroy the print that you don't like.

Walked out of the garage and saw the moon was already rising while still light... grabbed my camera and threw on a 500 mm lens.

I braced myself against the garage but it was handheld.

Little touchup in LR and a high pass filter in PS.

ISO 500, 1/1000, f/6.3

Very nicely shot and processed.

This is my favorite phase to shoot, just before and just after full. I hate shooting the flat full moon even though it's what everyone always ask for. So much more detail now along the dark edge.
Canon 7D
Canon 300mm prime f/4 lens at f/10 @ 1/125
ISO 100
On a tripod with shutter release.

Beautiful shots, I like 2 but I am a sucker for the close ups.

Thank you very much.
This butterfly could care less about me and let me move all around it shooting.
Must have been at least 15 minutes of lens time.

Most co-operative model I have had in a long time.

Canon 5D Mark II with Canon 300mm L prime lens at f/4.5
ISO 100 at 1/400 sec.

Hand held and cropped for detail.
I added 1 click of sharp using the Canon Photo Pro software.
It's been raining quite a bit here so I thought it would be nice to shoot the moon so to speak.
;)
Sorry, Details are as follows,
Canon 7D Canon 300mm F/4 IS and Canon 1.4 extender.
Shot at F/10 at ISO 100 and 1/160th shutter.

I have had good luck using this chart as a starting point.
You don't say what type of camera or if you are using a telephoto lens to do the shoot with.
This is intended for the user who is only trying to capture the moon.
I hope it helps.
Clear skies.

This is what I get when I plan the shot and do a reasonably good job of maintaining a pan. This was hand held and I like this one quite a bit.
Just showing off now.. :-D

Thank you Larry,
This is a composite of 2 portraits.
The break point is in line with the cable on the middle satellite dish. The left side is sharp, the right is just a bit soft. Together its not overly noticeable and is useable.
I have been generally pleased with the results I get.
