Have you tried using the video function or a modified webcam and process through a program like registax (shareware)? the results are pretty good from what I, a rank amateur, can tell.

Its in my plans to get a telescope camera. I have tried using the video from my 7D and my 5D Mark II but it doesn't play well with registax or Avistack even with a conversion to AVI..

Saturn will always be my favorite object within our solar system, with the moons of Jupiter coming in a close second.

Do you drift align?

I did on this one.. I am usually too lazy and just try to get it close with a 2 point.

I have a couple of questions as I have been thinking of getting a solar filter. Is there a benefit of using the film over a glass filter, I would imagine a dedicated solar telescope being the best, i'm just unsure if I have the time for solar viewing.

Does the PEC in your PEC stand for "periodic error corrected" just curious as that is the only use I have seen it.

BTW great shots of spots

Always glad to answer back.
I mount my film on a matte board carrier even the filters I make for my Canon lenses and mount them into old filter rings. Its like shooting through extra glass and the images are not as crisp. I even tried sandwiching between relatively good UV filter glass. Bah.. back to the open film.

Yes PEC is Periodic Error Correction.
You view and adjust for any drift over a 4 minute period and the scope will remember the changes you make to correct them for the remainder of your session.

This shot was taken in my front yard in Colorado Springs, CO. I have never seen one before and am wondering if anyone out there knows what it is ???? It is very interesting, it flaps it's wings very fast (like a hummingbird), it hovers and does not land (like a hummingbird, although hummingbirds do land some times). It very much resembles a hummingbird in flight and also has a very long beak like a hummingbird ( although longer and shaped differently ). The thing that is really throwing us thru a loop here is that it also has antenna and resembles a moth somewhat. We do have a lot of moths here but no one I know has ever seen one like this. They are very small ( about 1 inch in length) . If anyone out there knows what they are we are very interested in knowing.

They are what tomato worms turn into. Those you have likely seen.

I think at that aperture, diffraction will destroy what you're trying to accomplish, especially with a lens as the 28-135.

Thank you, Back to the drawing board so to speak.
How fast of a shutter can you go and still get the creamy look from the water? At what point does it become a moot point? I guess I am also trying to get too long of an exposure.
Thanks again.

5 seconds does seem like overkill. May I ask, why an Aperture of f/29?

I was after the long exposure as well as a deep field of view.
These were the settings I used for a deeper shot and didn't change them.
Less Aperture?

Its clear here tonight, except for forest fire smoke in the air. Chance of thunderstorms tomorrow night so I thought I would try to grab a moon shot. Most of my long lenses are rented out at the moment so I grabbed the only one left in the store, a 600mm F4, and mounted up a Kenko 2X TC on it just for giggles. Not cropped, out of camera shot.

Nicely shot.
The super moon is over hyped anyway.

Stopped at a forest preserve and grabbed a quick few shots outside my regular style...I would have stayed longer as there were other types of butterflies around, but the prairie was thick and so so were the hungry mosquitoes.... Hope you enjoy...

Beautiful setting and very well executed.
I like the shots with the butterflies on approach to landing.
Nicely timed.

I recently cleaned and aligned my 8" SCT and planned an evening shooting Jupiter on a night when the spot should have been visible.
I managed to catch a couple, this is one of the best cropped to show detail.
