Hello and welcome aboard.

Aperture priority is usually the preferred choice as long as the shutter speed the camera selects is fast enough to freeze motion.

I'd say it depends a lot on what lenses you have and your skill level. The 5D IV is an excellent camera, I have one. The D850 is the latest in camera technology, the closest I have in a Nikon to it is a D500. I have many Canon and Nikkor lenses and I personally have no plans to buy a D850 as I have no need for one. It will do nothing for me that the 5D IV won't do and if it's an issue of more megapixels, I do have a 5D SR. If you are concerned about having the newest and the best then maybe you should return the Canon and get the D850. If you simply want a top quality Full Frame DSLR that will serve you well for many years to come, keep the Canon, but the decision is yours. Choose well and have a pleasant productive day.

And NASA also . . .

I remember a conversation between ground control and the crew of the first manned Apollo rocket while sitting on the launch pad waiting for liftoff. Mission control asked one of the astronauts how they feel. He replied something like, how would you feel if you were sitting on top of a three hundred foot Roman candle built by the lowest bidder. My point is, NASA purchases a lot of gear by having competing suppliers submit bids, not because one manufacturers product is better than another's. NASA ordered custom built cameras from Hasselbald but their (NASA) DSLR'S are not custom made, they are off the shelf units.
One reason NASA went with Nikon years ago is NASA was apprehensive about using Canon's L series lenses that contained flourite elements for fear they would be too fragile, a fear that has proven to be inaccurate.
Bidding probably also has a roll in the procurement process. Canon sells a lot more product than Nikon or any other camera manufacturer therefore they don't need to submit the absolute lowest bid. As for NASA, they still get quality gear at a competitive price.

No, I meant WHAT. A statement or a post is not a WHO.

A quoted reply is a statement to someone not to something, it is to someone about something. The something in this case was the OP'S rant on his or her feelings on the past and present state of photography and the effects digital has had on, in their opinion, ruining it. My response was directed at the OP and I thought I tapped quote reply but I was posting from a Samsung tablet and sometimes the touch screen isn't as accurate as expected. My point in continuing this branch of the conversation is, some members make a habit of reminding others to use quote reply. I have been a member long enough to know what quote reply is and I really did believe that is the virtual button I tapped. I also have been a member long enough to recognize when a response is meant for the OP, as mine was.
I apologize if I have offended you in any way as that was not my intention and I understand if you feel the necessity to block me. Personally I block no one. Please have a pleasant day.

Without using "quote reply" no one knows what the hell you're responding to.

We all know what the response is to; I believe you meant WHO the response is to.

To whom are you addressing your comments? Please use “Ouote Reply.”

Sorry, I thought I did. One would speculate if quote reply not used, the response it intended for the OP.

I agree... but I'm partial to orchids and hippeastrum, but pretty much any flower will do.
Nice pic.

It's a silly argument. There are times when shooting JPG is advantageous and there are times when shooting RAW is the way to go. More often than not, I have the camera set to record both.

You've got a camera and lens that will deliver for you, now all you need is to be in the right place at the right time. Reading a good book or two and maybe taking a in few qood videos on the subject wouldn't hurt. Best of luck on your wildlife photography.
