Maybe . Lots of good shots in photography use props . Might be boring without it . Not a lot different from effects in a movie !

Yes you are right maybe some pollution but I don't really think back in those day's there was half the pollution we have now with all the millions of cars Etc . I think also back in the Early 1900's in the big cities smog was not as big a problem as it is now ! Maybe it's just me but I think I would sooner have a bit of pollution from a few old trains than the way it is now ! Just sayin "

No it's a tourist railroad and all cars are empty . Every year they have a limited photograpy special in which photo runbys are just for this special event . Might also add this was at one time was a lumber railroad . Altitude at top of mountain is around 6000 feet and some of the grades are around 12% resulting in numerous switchbacks . It is very rugged !

More steamers . Three Shays shot shows barrel distortion from extreme wide angle but I did not correct it . Thought it gave kind of a perspective

Every year I make the 300 mile journey to Cass West Virginia for a special three day steam engine event . Nothing like the echo of the one hundred year old beast's steam whistle in the Mountains of West Virginia !

Normally not a huge fan of a lot of editing but somehow this effect seemed to work for me . What do you think ? This photo was taken in a area where the Amish are more tolerant of having photos taken .

This is from a old sequence I shot a few years ago . Two juvenile Redtail hawks kick boxing . Throughout the whole sequence no contact is made and it's not hard to see who will be dominate in the adult word .. Whole thing was over in seconds and I'm told by wildlife officials this is Quite rare
