Sorry about the ramble. All that to say welcome to the digital adventure. Peterson and Tony Northrup recommend shooting in aperature or shutter mode to start. If you have a good handheld meter try manual. I found a good app for my iPhone but have an excellent handheld vintage one. Tony Northrup has an easy to understand video on your camera, you might try that. I have two of his books and they are excellent

Don't worry about the rambling. I might do that myself at times. One day I will probably get a decent digital, when it becomes too hard to get film or developing. I grew up in an era when we had dark rooms in the bathroom and only shot black and white. Ansel Adams was my hero.
