Wow!! And I thought I was the only one that used their tripod as a cane. Do you use your monopod as a walking cane as well?

No, but only because I hadn't thought of it. Thanks!

So I take it you play bass? I play upright bass ... Bluegrass, blues &jazz

Yes, electric though. 70's and 80's rock and as much blues as I can talk the band into. Jazz is over my head.
I have a fret less (Dan Armstrong clear knockoff I made myself) but upright?
I'm impressed, you really gotta muscle those beasts. I've played a couple and had a blast, but that's hard work!

Good attitude!
This is a little off topic, but I sometimes take my tripod with me for "beanbag" shots just as a brace to help me stand back up.
Sometimes those low perspective shots are the only way to go.

I want to echo Patrick 43, terrific composition. The stream at the bottom just danced my eyes right into the falls. Sweet!

Very nice captures indeed!
I share your appreciation for these small friends, and remember the brooha when the name changed. My grandma never quit calling them snowbirds, experts be dammed! Lol!
I used to just admire snow birds and now I R one! (From my temporary St. Petersburg abode)

http://veniceaudubon.org/rookery
Is located at 4000 South Tamiami Trail in Venice.
The rookery (island) is behind the Sarasota County Admin building.
I've never seen Sandhills there, but it's a very target rich photo site. Herons, egrets, anhingas and others.
Another place I've heard about, but not been to is the Venice landfill (yuck!) but supposed to be very birdy!

[quote=RickM1950]Hi fellow Hogs!

A short but true story. The wife, daughter, d-i-l & grand daughter went to Milwakee for a concert tonight. Friday after work and will not be back until Sunday night. Hhhmmm. What's a guy to do?

Rick, that's why they went to the concert!!!
They led you down the path, and you were smart enough to follow.
Now you have a new toy!
Job very well done!
Hmmmm? What other concerts can you buy them tickets for?

You are going to be in a VERY target rich photo ops area!
Try Venice bird rookery, Marie Selby gardens (Sarasota), Fort DeSoto Park, in Southern most St Petersburg, ( birds, sunshine skyway bridge) skyway bridge fishing pier state park, ( birds and bridge) Nokomis beach, Venice beach, Siesta Key beach for sun sets, and for goodness sakes go to Casey Key Fishhouse for dinner!
There's a million others but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
You're gonna have a blast!

Edit: I haven't been there yet, but I read that the landfill (yeah I know, YUCK!) is great for birds, just north of Venice.

Beautifull capture, love the feeling the falling snow adds.
I wondered though, is the middle buck just there to serve drinks and cigars to his elders? Lol!
