Lightroom will do everything needed to make your raw photos look great. Elements allows you to do additional things such as removing a power line from a photo. The two programs work well together. I have both but do nearly everything in Lightroom.

You have received many thoughtful replies to you question. The next step is yours- get the book Understanding Exposure. You will learn more than you can imagine. An easy read with outstanding pictures to illustrate the various techniques (settings).

I'm older than you. Yes, if your camera and/or the pursuit of great photos give you joy then it is a toy.

Afther googling this you know you are not alone with this problem. Not that misery loves company but there is strength in numbers. Since it is apparent others are having the same problem certainly Nikon will be taking this seriously. Hope you saved your packaging. As I believe they will be asking for you to send it to them for warranty service.

Great. Please keep us all posted. There is obviously a lot of interest in this issue and in how Nikon responds. Good luck.

I have a D600. Several thousand pictures captured and have not had a problem. Googled "Nikon D600 sensor spots" and got a full page of hits. You may want to do this to see what others are doing.

Thanks, how do I do this? Instead of Lightroom or in addition to Lightroom?

Well I will receive my D600 early next week from B&H. This morning reading UHH, I realized I have a problem. I shoot RAW with my D7000 and want to continue shooting RAW when the D600 arrives. I now load the photos directly into Lightroom 4.1. I thought RAW was RAW, I discovered that is not true (?)- that every camera handles it differently and according to everything I can find on the internet Adobe does not yet support the D600 in Lightroom or any of their other software for that matter and that it may be several months until they do. My question is what, if anything, I can do until Adobe offers an upgrade to Lightroom that includes the D600. Is there a "workaround" that can be used in the interim, do I have to buy additional software to use in the short term, or do I have to wait for Adobe?
Thanks for any help or advice you have!

I have a Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 DG HSM lens and absolutely love this lens. I shoot a Pentax K7 and have to turn off the SR on my camera body as the two conflict with each other. The lens is a bit heavy but not as heavy as a 70-200mm 2.8. The AF is very fast and quiet....I use it for everything and it is a great walk around lens. I would suggest you try to find one in a local store to touch and feel the lens before you purchase.

Thanks for your post. I agree with you regarding the desirability of having this lens in your hand before purchasing and plan on visiting BH this fall while I am in New York. Hate to wait that long or anything but the best camera store anywhere close is a Ritz...need I say more.

Thanks guys! I read the UHH every morning while having my coffee. This is the first I have posted and I want to thank everyone who took their time to answer. A 24-70 is in my future for sure though I am still on the fence. I will have a chance to go to BH this fall while in NY- maybe kinda dumb but I would like to hold one in my hands before buying.

Ditto on this, I too have a D7000 and am thinking about this lens. I have read both good and bad. Would be very interested in what others have to say.
