ok with your rant... works for me, especially the bread and water part... keeping a condemmned man in jail for 20 year thru appeals is sumpin a civilized society does???????? better to take him behind the courthouse and shoot him immediately, 20 year wait sounds cruel and unusual to me....

I agree, that's why I would like to see locked down rehabilitation for short periods with a long leash (2 years probation with drug testing). Keep them thinking. The lockdown means that they can't get out and they have no contact with the outside. Keeps the enablers off the doorstep.

I feel for you. I lost my cousin, who I was very close to, he was like my little brother, to heroin. I can't help but think that if things were made more difficult for him he may have turned the other way. By the way, yes I did quit smoking 30 years ago and yes it was hard. What turned me was I didn't want to smoke around my kids and that made smoking hard. I set my own limitations.

May I disagree? Your suggestion will not work because many "pushers" prefer jail when not pushing - due to all the goodies our liberals mandate must be available in jails. The Middle East has solved this problem! Anyone caught with any amount of illegal material, first face jail time during which they get only bread and water, hosed down for cleanliness once a week, and whatever clothes books, additional food, etc. are brought by family. Second offense result in death by beheading. Liberals are so afraid to promote the death penalty because it is demeaning and disgusting and "beneath a civilized society".
This process would save billions over a short time and solve not only the drug problem but the country club atmosphere of prisons, making them an undesirable place to go. Sorry for the rant.

In a sense your agreeing with me. Mao Tse Tung had a similar idea he just killed anyone that would not stop using. That had the same result, he cleaned up China very quickly but it was the the opium that was China's downfall in the first place. Singapore does not have a drug problem for the same reason. My point is we need to make it very uncomfortable for users to continue to use. No matter how you look at it using is a choice and right now users have it to easy. If everyone knew they would be going away to rehab nomatter what their circumstance I think many of them would start making better choices.

They are two different animals. LR is the superb image management software with limited image alteration features. Photoshop is the best image aleration software if you take the time to learn it. Photoshop has a steep learning curve but once learned you don't want to give it up. A reasonable substitute for Photoshop is the Elements version which costs less and has limited ability (adequate for most alterations) and is far easier to learn.

This government has been targeting the pushers for years and it hasen't put a dent in the problem. What would happen if anyone caught using illicit drugs were mandated to 90 days "lockdown" rehab. When they're finished they are put on probation for 2 years with mandetory drug testing every month. A second offence of 120 days and a third offence of a year. If you're caught a 4th time it's 5 years in prison. This law would have to include everyone, no exceptions. I personaly think there wouldn't be any drug pushers left after 5 years as they wouldn't be needed. IMHO we would be cutting off the real "head of the snake" this way, putting the blame for this terrible problem where it belongs, on the user.

I use Lightroom for 90% of my corrections and you can't beat their database for my photos. I still use Photoshop but only when I can't get the same effect on Lightroom.

I hate to admit this but I remember those old coal fired engines and you didn't want to be any where near them when they went by especially if there was a stiff wind. They really put out a lot of smoke. I miss them, they were such majestic machines.

If you have a computer and the text of the program they are not that hard to program, even if you don't know the programming language.

If you are not already doing so, upload your collection to the cloud. I just read an article about a professional photographer who had been burglarized and not only lost 4 of her cameras with lenses but they also took 20 hard drives that she had her entire life's work on. Fire and theft can ruin a perfectly good day for any of us.

By the way I own one of their carbon fiber tripods and really like it. Not meant for heavy video use but for my Nikons it's great and very light, which at my age I really need as I do most of my shooting outdoors.

I'm thinking of purchasing this one in the near future unless some one tells me their is something wrong with it. Carbon fiber so it's light, extends to 65 inches and shrinks to 18 inches with an 18lb weight rating. Don't know if it will be heavy enough for you but it comes with legs that are removable. For me the legs wee just a bonus, don't know if I'll ever use them.

This one might be a quick very inexpensive solution for you but I really don't know how much weight you are putting on the head. I own one of their carbon fiber tripods and for the price I couldn't beat it. I'm planning to purchase their monopod as well so I don't have to keep taking it off my tripod.
