The advice to buy FX lenses is exactly correct, it future proofs your lenses, however if you choose to stay DX there is a Sigma 50-150 F/2.8 EX DC OS APO HSM available which is an incredible lens. Currently on sale at B&H for 949.00

Sorry if this has been discussed here, I didn't know how to search previous posts. So I've asked this question on other forums, but wanted opinions here. I currently use the D7000 and have lenses for landscape work, but need a good portrait lens, the question is do I keep investing in DX lenses or get into FX for portraits or will the DX be sufficient, meaning you can't really tell the difference if a portrait was shot with FX or DX.

I use the Sigma 18-35 f/ 1.8 and the 50-150 f/ 2.8 on a D7000, they are both truly amazing . no experience with the 8-16 but some reviews rate it very highly. Highly recommend the 18-35 and 50-150.

I've been into digital photography for a year now. I've been reading and learning from these forums and google. I've kinda found my nitch so to say of what I like to photograph. I don't know all the photographic jargon so if I describe something wrong forgive me ,I'm learning. Here's the question " what lenses do I need to do landscape, nature, macro and natural settings portraits?" Here's what I have ; Nikon d7000 with 18/105 kit lens, a sigma 180mm f2.8 macro and an old kiron 28/105 f3.3. Here's what I as lenses and tripod/head combo.; sigma 8/16 ,sigma 18/35 f1.8, sigma 50/150f2.8 and for a tripod I was looking at the Induro at 317 i think the largest one ( for leg length and stability) .And the BHL 3 ball head. Did.t know if that head was over kill or not. Suggestions please.
