I finally got most of my photos back into LRC after hard drive crash. The photos were scattered all over the PC. Now I want to start fresh. After importing photos into LR should I immediately backup? Do I do this by exporting into backup drive? Sometimes I feel like I have everything under control and know what I am doing then bang I am lost.
Thanks for sharing, nice shots
I meant to say LR. Essential tremors be damn.
Found most of my missing photos. I went browsing through old external HD's and on my WD book I found all my photos from 2008 to 2013. 2008 was when I retired from nursing and started using LR. I am so excited. I have found many other photos also. Thanks to listening to UHH folks and doing backups. Now I will be working on moving them into LK. Wish me luck.
Sorry for no reply, I needed to think about this more. I copied your instructions.
this morning I started all over again. Found that the cat. I had open on LR was old. So I d/l the 3.3 cat. and now it is d/l but so far only my collections pics are there. Folders are intact but pics are still missing. All the pics are showing but all have exclamation marks in the folder panel.
I do keep my folders neatly organized by time-based folders and info. I plan to reread your earlier suggestions and get back later with clear head. Appreciate all your help.
When backing up photos to external HD do you drag and drop, copy and paste or export? I have been spending way too much time thinking about retrieving my photos and now the whole process is totally confusing me. After the HD failure LR came back with all my folders missing photos, but my collection photos are all there.
I did mention that I use Win11, and have Carbonate. My pictures are on my PC C: drive, some in Amazon and some are in a pictures folder.
Brand computer with a faulty hard drive, replaced by Dell tech. I just seem not to understand where to d/l files to. I have several external backups. Thanks for the help. I will spend some time and attempt to get my pics back into
LR. I tried to do an import from hard drive but that did not work.
When I do a LR backup, not sure where to backup catalog, any help? To C drive or external?
I use carbonate, should I backup my pictures everytime I exit LR to a external hard drive?
My LR folders and collections are neatly organized by year, month and day, but all pics are missing from hard drive
crash, and for the life of me I cannot get them back into LR where they belong.
they are all on my PC, I have tried importing, no luck. I have read how to get missing photos back but can't seem to get it working. I believe it is just old brain syndrome. Think I should pay geek for help.
Any help would surely be appreciated.
I have that very same Oly camera. Still usable.
I thought I was doing backup properly, and that all my apps. would also backup. I was wrong again.
I have LR and PS installed, now a break and will move or should I copy or drag and drop all my photos. I really have a hard time with drag and drop r/t tremors
So far I am the youngster. I feel 40ish till I look in mirror.
I have managed to get 3 apps. d/l
I have done d/l of my entire system on 3 diff. hard drives. guess I will be busy today. I am also retired and 80, what else do I have to do?
New computer, win 11, stopped working. Luckily, I used Carbonite to save all my files. After tech from Dell got me up and running I opened carbonite and did a backup.
all files are there but no applications. I have been working trying to find a solution. Any help would be appreciated.
Turns out Windows crashed, new hardrive and win reinstall.
