Hi all. I'm wondering if any of you shoot with the XT-1 and if you have a book (in addition to the owner's manual) to recommend? I purchased this camera in April, but I'm thinking I could use some additional help to get the most out of my camera. I do really enjoy it...bought it for street photography and for travel. I just have the kit lens the 18-55, but it is a very nice lens for my needs right now. Thank you.

Beautiful shots. I watercolored the photo of the canoe in the water...made me feel like I was there for a quiet morning. Thanks for sharing.

Check out Valerie Jardin Photography. Valerie is recognized as one of the top 20 best street photographers. She has a wonderful blog and posts lots of suggestions for street photography. She addresses this very question and many others pertinent to street photography. I've traveled with Valerie to Normandy and Rome and enjoyed practicing my street photography with her.

I own the Travel Photography course through Great Courses. Joel offers some interesting perspectives and suggestions. I tend to think that there is "photography while on vacation" and then there is "travel photography." I think the two are vastly different. You try to grab opportunities to get photos when they arise in the former and you make the opportunities arise in the latter. To be very honest, most of my photos on vacation need to be taken when I see them...time of day, etc. is sometimes not very flexible. I don't think I have gone to a place specifically for photography where I can get up at sunrise and wait for the perfect time to shoot, etc. Good luck with your holiday pictures. I'm sure they will bring back many good memories for you.

I would recommend Shutterfly and Blurb. I've made many books using various Shutterfly themes. They are user friendly and offer interesting and fun embellishments, papers, borders, etc. Christmas, birthdays, family reunions are all great reasons to use Shutterfly.

After a photography trip to the Normandy area I completed my first Blurb book. It is beautiful, but costs more than Shutterfly. I would say that Blurb is a more "professional-looking" book; however. I like that Blurb is accessed through my LR program also.

Check them both out and pick the one that best corresponds to your needs.

I've stated before that I own a 6D and I'm very happy with it. I chose it based on price, fit in my hands ( it is a little smaller and lighter than the 5D Mark III). It does well in low light, as well. I suppose a down side would be that I only have 11 focus points, but I consistently use my center focusing point and recently set my camera to BBF. I use primarily the 24-105, but I also use a 50 mm 1.4, 17-40, 70-200 4.0. The 6D works for me and I'd buy it again. Good luck with your purchase.

I have upgraded to Yosemite and my LR 5 never skipped a beat. I would heartily recommend LR. I plan to upgrade when LR 6 comes out. Good luck.

My husband and I took our 8 grandkids to Disney last summer. I took a point and shoot and left my DSLR at home. My best advice would be to take a light camera and sign up for the Memory Keepers pkg. You can have photographers stationed all around the park take your group's photos anywhere you want to and they are downloadable when you get home. Enjoy...what a fun place!

I have a 6D and love it. Price and size were considerations for me. I would purchase this camera again. I use a 50 mm, 24-105mm, 70-200mm, and a 14-70mm.

A beautiful story to be cherished in your family. Thanks for sharing it. I think your dad has to be smiling and nodding his head as he also looks at his best friend.

Hello from lovely Sturgis! I actually live on the busiest street...yes, thousands of bikes cruise by daily! We've rented our house and we are leaving town during the 75th. I'm most definitely NOT a rally fan, but concur that you can do great street work here. You do see everything, unfortunately!

Thanks to all. That's sort of the message I'm understanding...that I just need to use it to get used to it. But, for example, if I need to vary the size of my brush...do I still use my finger to hit the bracket keys or do I somehow program that into my tablet? Thanks.

Hi friends. I've purchased a small Pen Wacom tablet and watched numerous You Tube videos, etc. I have installed the appropriate drivers, etc. and am using it with a Mac Air laptop and a larger LG monitor. I am going to use it primarily for photo editing and I use Lightroom 5 and Elements 13. I don't know where to begin though, for example, I know I can program each of the four express keys to do individual things in LR and different things in Elements. One of my questions is how do other folks who use a Wacom program decide which way to best use the express keys...Another question would be how to actually get started. I'm used to using the trackpad on my computer. I've studied the manual, but if anyone has any suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them. Thanks so much.

Thanks so much. I'll check that. I wondered since my files didn't seem to "automatically" go back to LR. Happy Holidays. Linda
