I have a large number of photos in different of formats with a unknown number of duplicates over four external hard drives and with two hard drives on my current computer, I not sure how to 1-elimate duplicates,2 how to set up my current computer hard drives and external drive for safety and storage of pictures. I would be interested any software to find duplicates and should I move all my pictures to hard drive before I start to delete photos.

You didn't really give us enough info. Desktop / notebook? OS? You're going to open this thread wide open to a bizillion different solutions. More info needed

What photo shops and pro photographers? I live in Northern New York, not Syracuse, I am 3 hours North of Syracuse by car.

Go check out the Darkroom. Are you really going to develop your color pics?

With a Voltmeter!

Yes, a voltmeter - which is found on today's modern VOM (Volt, Ohm, Milliamp Meter) - If you pick the right one, they are around $10 per copy

8 MB JVC SD card in Pentax K50:

A 8MB wouldn't hold 1 picture with today's cameras. My 30 mp file is 30 mb's so a 8mb card would not hold 1 picture. The smallest cards I have are 32 Gb but most are 64 to 128 gb

When I try to shoot, the camera tells me the card is full.
If I try to view the card the message is “no image available.
This happens if the card is locked or unlocked.

Any suggestions as to why I’m getting these mixed messages?
Tnx

Only thing I can think of is that the files are incompatible with your viewer. Did you try looking at the contents with Windows Explorer to see if it recognizes the contents?

Simple, cheap, ship 55-200, insured, to your first Hotel - "Hold for Guest." Same on return, you will have the box from delivery - any post office, UPS, Fedex, etc. Don't really understand the issue, air, tiny car, same areas AZ, NM, 2 FX Nikons, 4 lenses + no problem. The only time it was a bit of an issue was when I brought the 80-400 in a separate case - awkward, but I still got away with it.

This is likely a good suggestion. However, I have had recent packages that were handled roughly (or dropped ~5' off the conveyor). I would be uncomfortable with this strategy. Having said that, proper packaging (box in a box plus foam), a lens might survive the trip(s).

Wow! Thank you all for your responses and suggestions! I’ve been convinced to pack all three lenses. I do have a smaller backpack that will hold the entire kit, so I’ll leave the smaller gadget or shoulder bag home for this trip.

May I suggest the lens you will most need is the one you left home

I believe I recall admin saying unless a file is marked "store original" his receiving and resizing software strips the exif data from all other images unless that practice has been stopped.

Well, there you go. A mystery is resolved for me.

Every picture taken with a modern digital camera has all the data encoded in the picture. In windows pull up properties from the drop down menu. On my iPad I use an app called Exif Viewer. The data is very detailed with all the info about the photo, camera, lens, focal length, date taken, etc. However, the photographer does have the option to remove the EXIF Data.

Respectfully, as I mentioned before. PP can remove that data. I'm not familiar when one saves a RAW image ove to JPG if the EXIF data gets stripped. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I don't think you will get a very good response from this post. Unless there is a very unusual photo posted under very unusual circumstances most people will not include that kind of info with their posts. Bottom line, it's really not that important. It's the photographer, not the hardware.

If PP hasn't stripped the EXIF info. The info can be gleaned there. One site I go to offers that info but doesn't display it unless you click on the display EXIF info.

It's a legitimate question in my view especially if one is housebound and wishes to gather information on an image that is pleasing.

Have a chance to spend a day in NYC in the middle of September. Want to do some basic street photos, plus some iconic images such as Rose Reading Room, Oculus, etc. but mainly street scenes. What do you advise for a lens? Am considering the following, all Nikon: 28-300, 17-35, 70-200 and a Sigma ART 50mm 1.4 prime. Can be mounted to a D500 or D750. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for your input.

Are listed lens DX format? If that be the case, I'd recommend the 28 - 300
