Looks like a variety of immature milkweed assassin bugs.

Friend of mine couldn't figure out why his hanging bird feeder was empty every morning. Finally saw a doe whitetail with two fawns-the doe reared up, bumped the feeder with her head until all the birdseed fell out and the whole family had a feast!

Very nice and NOT creepy. Although I think the second one looks more like a robber fly to me than a cicada.

Our grand-daughter is continuing in her mother's and aunt's dance steps. She's so cute!!! (Says the biased grandfather).

Took these last summer and wanted to share them. Shows the difference between the male and female mantises. Especially since the female is gravid with eggs.

These were taken at Ano Neuvo Marine Preserve just north of Santa Cruz, CA-one of my favorite places. Only downside is you can smell the seals from a mile away!! But you do get used to it LOL. Enjoy.

Beautiful photos. We're going to Pacific Grove in a couple of weeks and may make it down to Big Sur, one of the most beautiful places on the planet.
Thanks. You're right next door to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, also. One of my favorite places.

How did you get to that spot on the first one. I read it is hard to get to.

There's an overlook trail that gets you to where I took the photo.
