Yep, you need to have been raised on Saturday Morning Cartoons with Bugs, Daffy, Tweedy Bird, Sylvester, The Chipmunks and company. Followed of course by the rest of the day being old Western, War and Detective Movies. Followed by the yucky mushy ones for Mom in the evening.

What's wrong with corn fields? You can take a .22 and shoot crows, let the dogs chase rabbits and pick a few ears to boil or roast.

And if next to a pond and woodlot you get fresh fish, an ear of corn, a camp fire, some green twigs to put the corn and fish over the fire to roast. No need to walk all the way back to the farmhouse for lunch. And the dog happily cleans up the mess from cleaning the fish (save a piece or two for bait so you have some fresh fish to take to Mom or Grandma at the farm house for dinner.

How about before Bugs, Daffy on TV but at the Saturday Fun Club at the local Interstate Theater. We also got the Movie Tone News.

How amazing many Millions of people believe just the opposite; Trump works FOR America and Americans. How easy you on the lying corrupt Left insist that those of us who want to make America better all are some sort of cult, easily duped by someone who is lying to all of us, Millions of us. But then again how easy it is for the Millions in the POS Biden CULT to fail to see ANY lies or corruption from him even though even Obama spoke against him as have other Democrats. Biden is known for lies, plagiarism, corrupt behavior for the past 50 years. That is all known by Democrats and yet not a one of those here in The Attic can admit it. DAMN if that isn't a pile of Bulls**t right there. Most Conservatives including me will readily admit Trump is not perfect. But not one of you on the Left can speak out against Biden. Now if that isn't a F'd up CULT I don't know what is.

Saying Trump has not worked FOR America is just a flat out lie and you are a LIAR. Take a look at how every OTHER President has made Millions while in office EXCEPT Trump who lost money. I guess to the Left that makes him corrupt while the other Presidents were all pure as snow.

Only to stray a bit from the discussion perhaps you might know my friend Daryl H****r, professional photographer and owner of The Hole Photo Safaris up there in the Tetons.
Even though I oppose Trump with every fiber of my body I am not your flaming liberal. I have v**ed in every e******n since 1960 and until 2020 never for a democrat. I did not v**e for either candidate in 2016 as neither had the wisdom or character to be president. The nicest thing I can say for Trump is, as we used to say, "he ain't got no couth", and certainly not the character befitting a president. Cheers, Don

And then what are you going to do to get rid of the Biden type who has done nothing positive for this country but sure has helped out China, Iran and Ukraine a lot? I always thought American Presidents should put America number 1 first. Guess Biden missed that memo.

Dennis

In Donald Trumps world he's number 1 through 10, the USA doesn't even appear and MAGA can't seem to realize they are being duped by one of histories best con men.

I don’t take meds. Looks like you are back on illegal drugs again. Maybe if you posted to comments made rather than to me personally you would not look like so much the ASS.

A hint. Rather than attacking Trump or me how about telling us how good America is under Biden. Tell us of lower prices, tell us of something positive he has done EVER in 50 years. How about filling us in on how his mental health really is in good shape and it is a vast far right conspiracy for most of America to think he has F’d up all his 50 years in politics. Tell us he really has a non corrupt job with the Chinese government for which he is paid Millions. Convince us he has some good reason to put down Trump and the border wall while he now decides a wall is a good idea. Show us how Biden is great for American needs while he continues to give Billions in aid for support of Ukraine and i*****l a***ns while Americans are living on the streets.

I will be right here,

Not to belabor the obvious but the best thing Biden has done is prevent Trump from being president the last four years and hopefully for the next four also.

I can see why it is there.
I saw mostly politically opinionated stupidity beyond disturbing. I thought it is shocking that people that should be mature, intelligent and open minded aware of realities in our world and country posting the stupidity and they vote and they breed !
It is more than the political social aspect but a reflection of how we can easily be manipulated.
Just look at the model vs. model posts here in main topic areas.
Well I wanted to share my experience and if this post winds up there, Ok, so what.

I'd just use a tripod, lens for the desired field of view, meter on the sun, maybe bracket. Just like any other subject.
Why turn it into rocket science?

Tripod, ok, proper lens, yep. bracket for sure, meter on the sun, WHAT! I almost choked on my coffee with that one. I hope to see your results posted in April.

No worries here. I get a creepy crawly feeling just looking at a photo of a person near or on the edge of a precipice.

I have a very good Vanguard TBH Tripod that weighs about 5.3 lbs including the ball head. I'm preparing for a photo tour that includes a couple of days of backpacking and am thinking of something lighter. At first what I saw from Peak Design and others was that for roughly $300 I could get the weight down to 3 pounds. That hardly seemed worth the money. But now I'm seeing that Ulanzi has some options for a lot less money and slightly less than 3 lbs. So now I'm interested. Here's my questions. Does anyone have experience with Ulanzi? And my second question is carbon fiber vs aluminum. Ulanzi Ombra weighs 1.1 Kg and supports 8 Kg of weight. It's aluminum. Their more expensive MT 60 weighs 1.25 Kg and supports 10 Kg. so pretty close to the same payload to weight ratio and the Ombra stands a little higher - meaning it will be more comfortable for me to use without having to extend the center column. So what am I missing? One thing is I would expect the carbon fiber to be more durable. What else?

Check out the Sirui A-1205 carbon fiber, 2.2 lbs with ball head. $170.00 at B&H. One leg is removable to use as a monopod.

Going to NC mountains for a week in March, will be driving so weight is not a factor but don't want to carry a lot of gear. One film camera either Nikon F3 or Ricoh XRP, both with winders or motor drives. Digital is a little harder decision, D200, 300, 300s with MB D10, D7000. Plan on Tamron 18-270 and 50mm 1.4 for Nikon and Pentax 50mm 1.4 and 28-100 and 70-210 Rikinon P lenses if I take the XRP, Have dedicated ttl flashes for all. Just thought of my N90s, that would be lighter than F3 and still use my Nikon lenses. Damn! I just may take it all including my F2 and macro set up. I may need some mental help and guidance. I'm going way out on a limb here and assume your post is not a joke. If you just have to have film, take the F3 and the 50mm lens. Leave the motor drive home, you won't be shooting action shots. Take the D7000 and the Tamron 18-270mm, That along with a travel tripod and a mini,(desktop), tripod and a few accessories should be all you need. Use the onboard 7000 flash.

Hello! I am a novice photographer that enjoys shooting lots of different stuff. I live in the path of totality for the upcoming solar eclipse here in Indiana. I'm looking for ideas on capturing images. I shoot with a Nikon d610 and older 80-200 2.8 Nikon lens. Thanks for any advice!

Google, Nikon USA, How to Photograph a Solar Eclipse. In Ugly Hedgehog go to Watched Topics and find my post. It will be under Prepare for Total Eclipse by Photolearner 61 Nov.26, 2023. My post will be on page 2.
I also used a 80-200 2.8 lens but the camera was a DX format making my lens a 300 35mm equivalent. With your FX camera 200mm is not quite enough. Rent, borrow whatever a 1.4 or 2x tele extender and you will be alright. You will not need that 2.8 f stop as most of the exposures will be in the 5.6-f8 range. Even with the amount of cropping necessary I feel sure you will not be disappointed.

Need a little help… seems like I’ve forgotten something Tell me if I’m correct and if not please set me straight
Attempting to get the detail of the subject against the background
1. Light (white, creme etc) subject against a dark background equal a negative ex comp
2. Light subject against light background equal a zero or plus exp comp
3. Dark subject against dark background equals plus exp comp
4. Dark subject against lighter or bright background equals a zero or minus exp comp
5. Subject in front of a bright or dark no curtained window equals a negative exp comp.
Thanks for setting me straight

Rather than trying to remember all the different scenarios for exposure comp I rely on just two. I discovered the first while as a high schooler on a ski trip back in 1953 all of my Kodachromes were underexposed. Thus, rule #1, dark subject light background needs overexposure. Rule #2, white swan on dark water must be underexposed to prevent the swan from being washed out. Then I just go from there.

In my opinion, how much noise that can be tolerated lies in the eyes of the beholder and the subject matter. Less tolerance in a pastoral scenic, a lot more in the winning goal in the world Cup. In some cases the grain such as that produced in a Tri X photo can enhance the mood of a photo.

Interesting, but why should I have any interest in what the people in Japan, or anywhere else for that matter, are buying. I have been more than happy with my Nikons, F Photomic, F3 and on up to the D500. Alas they are all SLRs and since I refuse to put a large dent in my retirement account and "upgrade" my stable of Nikon equipment to mirrorless I will have to be content with producing subpar images no matter how proficient I may become.
