These items are never loosely loaded into shipping containers along with many other items. They are always boxed with other items.
The box it comes in is absolutely not intended for shipping. It is solely Intended for display and sale and lightly protecting the product during the sales process

I'm missing out on some whacky part of the camera market. If anyone is interested, I am about to throw out the following boxes that are in perfect condition. All I'm asking is 15% of the original sale price of the lens.

EF 16-35mm f/4L
EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS II

Come to think about it, I should demand a box for all things I purchase

I'm actually selling those 2 lenses right now on craigslist. One person actually sent me an email asking a lot of questions about the 100-400 and one of them was if i had the original box. I think people like getting a complete package somehow.

I prefer to try CL first to get a local cash sell and if not then I'll list elsewhere. And yes, I have original boxes and all original paperwork.

Okay, I want to clarify a couple things.

My main concern is NOT the box itself. With that being said though it is a very small part of my concern. It seems almost every time I sell used camera equipment people ask if I have the original box. They don't ask for the box for anything else I sell just the camera equipment.

My concern is weather the lens was somehow damaged in the shipping. My concern is also the fact they sent me popsicle sticks in bubble wrap and a giant box. This makes no sense to me. The box was shipped from the Amazon fulfillment center from Lexington KY. When I ordered it I made sure it was not a 3rd party. I would not have bought from a 3rd party unless it was one of the big ones like BH or Adorama or someone like that. It was directly amazon who was the seller. For the most part Amazon has always come thru for me in the past with speedy deliveries and ease of purchase.

I was very frustrated yesterday because I spent the day in the ER after a slice of my toe was cut off. As I sat there I found some small comfort knowing I have a shiny new lens waiting for me to pick up on the way home. I hobbled into the UPS store so excited and smiles turned to frowns. The owner of the store looked at me and said "Gee, this looks like a camera lens, I hope it wasn't expensive because it looks pretty rough". Not being in a clear mind I just took it and left.

I did photograph the box before I opened it. Some of the inside foam on the corner was also smashed. The lens appears ok and seems to work ok but I still have an unsettling feeling. I normally wouldn't complain about a torn or damaged box. It's usually not something important enough to worry about. Most boxes go in the trash after I open the item. My camera gear is different though. It's one of my joys in life and I guess I am a little sensitive about it.

I know if I waited and bought from Adorama I would have sales tax and 5% using their card. I was ok to pay more and get it now. I'm going on a small RV road trip soon and wanted it for this. I agree the original box does have some level of packing to protect the lens but the original box is not a shipping box and not meant to be a shipping box. My complaint is not against UPS. They simply did their job. My complaint is also that Amazon should have something in place to prevent items from being damaged. This is simply money coming out of their pocket.

I don't make a lot of posts but I do read almost everything. I was so frustrated yesterday I had to say something. I haven't decided to keep or retune the lens. I'll most likely return it and go thru Adorama.

The photography issue for me is deciding to keep the lens or return it. Trying to decide if it somehow has damage or not.

Hopefully the title isn’t to harsh for everyone but it fits. I order a lot from Amazon as most do. I order the majority of photo equipment from Adorama.

A couple weeks ago I ordered a $4 pack of 500 popsicle sticks for my daughter to build things. They came in a box with air filled plastic bags for protection.

I’ve been wanting a new Canon RF lens which is out of stock almost everywhere. This lens is over $2,500 with tax. Amazon had 1 in stock. I ordered it because it was shipped and sold thru Amazon not some 3rd party. It came by UPS 2 days later. Low and behold they didn’t bother putting it in a box. Just shipped it in the original Canon box. The box is covered with about 8 or 9 big shipping stickers so you can’t really make out what the box is. One corner is slightly smashed or crushed. Nothing major.

I’m very tempted to return it. I don’t know if it has any damage. I assume it’s okay but seriously. Pack popsicle sticks and don’t pack an expensive lens. Who made this decision?

If I decide to sell it in the future someone would see all the shipping labels on the box and may not want it. I hate to return it because I may be waiting a while to find another.

The reason for all the shipping labels is I wasn’t home to sign for it. UPS decided to send it to the UPS store for me to pick up. They created more shipping labels with that stores address as well as additional instructions for the staff there.

My concern at this point is weather or not the lens could have been damaged.

Hell, I'd take a 20 year old snowblower over a new one any day of the week. Stuff made today is nothing but junk. They use the thinnest cheapest mostly plastic they can just to make it work for a while. 20 years ago things were made to last.
But honestly I can't give you any advise on a snowblower that would have any value. I've never even seen one. Honestly I can't even remember the last time I heard or said the word snowblower. The closest I've come to snow latel would be last night as I was sitting on my back porch in shorts drinking an ice cold beer the temperature dropped to about 68 I thought to myself "wow, its getting pretty cold, I better get back inside and warm up."

I bought your lens hood from keh thru amazon last week. It should be arriving tomorrow or Tuesday. I will not need it as I'm buying the lens elsewhere that includes the lens hood. I paid $259. If you want it PM me. I would only add the shipping cost which is minimal. If not that's cool, I will just return it. I have a very long history on Fred Miranda.

For personal property, not commercial use I just added USAA. They have a personal property policy. It's cheap. It is 0 deductible, it covers if I break something and it covers any kind of loss worldwide. Meaning it covers theft or any disappearance including loss. I covered almost $30K worth of equipment. Between tripod, monopod 5DMK4 and EOS R plus numerous lenses the total is about $30K. Total annual policy cost is $327.00. They also gave me a little more then a $250.00 discount off of my auto policy because I added this policy. I'm basically paying $75.00. All I had to do was send a picture of everything. It was the simplest policy I ever bought. Now I need to downsize my equipment and lower the coverage amount. I'm kinda a hoarder. I keep upgrading my equipment and tell myself "oh, if I sell this I can pay for that". The problem is I never sell it. This policy can also cover guns, art, jewelry and several other things. It is super cheap. I have not added the other items yet. I will add a few more items. I just wanted the policy in place before I took a trip that was planned last month. If you have not served but have family members that have you can use USAA. This is NOT part of a homeowners policy or anything. It's simply called a "personal property policy"

HAHA, I do have a pretty awesome wife. She shocked me one day when she picked up my camera and started shooting better pictures then me. Never in our almost 10 years together did she mention she can take nice pictures. She is totally cool with everything and almost never complains. For that reason alone i am truly lucky, but also many more. She's from China and she's got a good college education, I just never gave any though about her taking pictures before. She has never shown any interest. Her major has nothing to do with cameras.
As for the rental ideas. I have decided that is the way to go. I would use something but probably not enough. I guess I didn't give enough though to the difficulty of carrying the big lens. I'll probable get the 2x III as well. I was fortunate to get the 1.4 III for about $100 so I picked it up. I am a little funny in I prefer not to use extenders but would rather get a longer lens. This one I may need to rethink. I don't often have any rhyme or reason to how I do things.
I did just get the EOS R today. I haven't even had a minute to use it yet and she snatched it out of my hands when I walked in the door. I guess I know who's using that one.

Yes, renting is a good idea. I will have to try that idea first. I have not used such large primes. I really want to take the best equipment for these once in a lifetime experiences. I have some time to practice and use them so thats to my advantage. I almost thought about the Canon 200-400 with built in 1.4. It's pricy but I still like the 2.8 idea.

I do have the vII of the 100-400. I also have the 1.4 vIII. I actually need to use that one some more. I used it this weekend with the extender. I had some issues with pictures coming out really dark. More practice may fix that.

So I've always had a nice SLR/DSLR. Never really learned to seriously use them until now. I'm really spending hours daily learning and practicing. I've been doing so for a while now. I've got a lot of the basics down. I'm now working on different situations and compositions. I still have a ways to go but I'm much further ahead then I was several years ago. Here's my question. My wife and I will be taking some serious trips over the next 2 years. Iceland and Alaska, Antartica, Africa and Costa Rica. We live in Florida for now (too hot for me anymore). I'm going to be starting a new venture in Alaska during the summers. We will be spending summers in Alaska. I am looking for a serious lens for the trips we will be going on. Mainly for Africa and Antartica. Since they are once in a lifetime I am looking for the best bang for the buck. I have all the smaller lenses I need. I am looking for a Canon exotic lens. Much to my surprise my wife has agreed (I almost fell over when she agreed) with me getting a really good lens. I'm looking at the 2 new Canon lenses coming in December. The EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM or the EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM. I have the 100-400. I am thinking of selling that and getting the new 70-200 2.8 and one of the exotics. I like to longer zoom of the 600 but I also like the F2.8 of the 400. Not sure which way to lean. I am not a BIF shooter. I do like to shoot wildlife. Thats my main thing. I also like other stuff but I'm looking for a lens for wildlife. Any suggestions would be helpful. As for the bodies we have, we have a Canon 5D mark iv and the new EOS R. One is hers and one is mine. We share Lenses. Thanks.

After a long day in the Ocala national forest of hoping and praying to see something exciting I finally saw my first bear in the wild. The 2 animals I really have been hoping to see is a bear and Florida panther. I crossed one off my list Saturday. So excited. These came from my iPhone as I really botched my camera pictures. I was playing with my ISO earlier and didn't change it so all my pictures came out as just black pages. Oh well, I still have the iPhone pictures. I'm still learning. I was about 15 feet from this bear. It was much bigger then it looks in the picture. My wife first said it looks like a baby. Then she got a good look and said "Oh my, it's huge".

Wow, I was in the Villages Saturday. Wish I could have seen that one. Went into Ocala national forest. Went to Juniper Springs and guard was telling me how excited she was to see deer playing earlier that day. I see them every morning in my back yard. She also told me about the big alligators around. I also have them in my back yard. I was thinking I really want to see a bear, bobcat or Florida panther. As I was leaving and for the first time in my life I was face to face with a big black bear in the wild. So exciting. The only shots I got were from a iPhone. I was in a rush taking a few with my camera I forgot I had changed the ISO so all my photos look like just black pictures. I watched it for about 20 minutes. Mostly in my truck except to take a few shots.
