Very cool place. I saw this one on a recent drive, don't know if it's haunted but sure looked it!
Yes, it certainly looks like it would be haunted !! Great place for a Halloween party but don't bother inviting me. Way too spooky for me.
I have seen houses like that in upstate New York(near Rhinebeck.) Lots of them lose their "mystique" when they are turned into bed and breakfasts or antique shops. Great shots. Love the first one. Do you think it has that Dutch influence of the early settlers?
nice pics, but it seems they could all use a bit more punch... maybe boost the saturation and contrast a bit?
I appreciate your comments! I generally critique others on this forum with the same comments. In this case I think I was being overly careful trying to balance that fine line of reality vs possibly oversaturating or contrasting. I believe your comments are valid and have adjusted these three photos and are posting here. Let me know if you think they need more PP. By the way, I really liked your Bryce Canyon photo. Again, thanks for your critique...I'll apply it to other photos in this series.

much better, Bob... the rocks in that part of the country really are very red, sometimes so much so that the real color seems over the top, but these look much more like the real hues you see down there...

I agree. Have to pump up the saturation because often the photos don't show the true intensity of the red in those formations.
Let me begin by saying that my goal here is to be helpful. I do not want to offend anyone but Ive noticed several comments regarding spelling and grammatical errors in some posts. When I take the time to post a comment Id like you all to focus on my comment and not on my spelling but I realize that part of the responsibility for that is on me. I cant spell a lick so heres how I approach the problem. I open a Word document and type my comments there; my spell checker catches almost all of my spelling errors and most of my grammatical errors as well. Then I highlight the text and right click and click on cut. I then open my message window and click on it to activate the text box. Right click in the box and click on paste. Again Im trying to be helpful here not condescending or offensive, please accept this in the spirit it was offered.

I notice these things as well. Perhaps my being a freelance technical writer is why I notice things like speeleng and grammear, issues. Some of the worst offenders are quite often working professional writers posting to professional writer's forums and lists.
I recently witnessed a battle over commas. Should you add commas before the "and" in a list. Like Cats, Dogs, Hasselblads, and pies. Some say yes, some say no; Word offers you either option and depending on the style guides you follow, commas can be handled either way.
One way to start a battle is point out these problems. I'll comment only if I cannot follow the post. Otherwise, I'll shut up and try to learn something.

Since I believe I can be of very little help in the area of photography, let me try to lend a hand in this critical question of using a comma in a series. According to punctuation rules, both ways are correct: a comma between the second to the last item and the word "and" or not using the comma are equally okay . Most of the years I taught elementary grammar, (35 yrs.) we taught the kids to use the comma before the "and." I guess it was for consistency... for everybody to march to the same tune. Isn't it great to know we actually have a choice? lol
Now what do think?...should I get a Nikon 60D or a Nikon T31. I want to do close-up and macro shots as well as a variety o other types of nature photograpy.
