I carry a Model 1911 .45 ACP! Don't know if that would be considered unusual??
Although, I'm not a fan myself of off body carry.
This was a NAGA sanctioned match.
My grandson Parker, (the bottom guy in this photo).
No one was using flash, so neither did I. Used my D500 with Nikon DX 18-300mm 3.5-5.6, very noisy, did an automatic denoise in Lightroom. I still have to go through the 240 shots I took and do a lot of culling.
If I plan to shoot these matches, I am going to have to acquire a much faster lens. Everyone was allowed to shoot from the edge of the mats.
He won 3 out of the four rounds he was in.
Thanks for all the recommendations on how to shoot this, I will try not using the flash, unless I need it.
I just made contact with the venue. Camera's and flash are good to go!

Before anything, make sure a flash is allowed if you plan to use one.
I don't even know if camera's are allowed, I will try to contact the venue.
My 19 year old grandson is participating in an indoors Brazilion Jiu Jitsu match this weekend. I would like to shoot some of the events with him in it. Having never been to such an event, I am looking for advice on how to go about getting some good shots.
