Very, very nice.

Thanks NMGal. Would have been nicer with a big ole barge being pushed down the river. There was one coming, but if I were to get this shot exactly at sunrise, I had to take it then and now.

It’s always a pleasure to see one of you’re interesting and informative posts, James. Your posts have always been among my favorites on UHH. Best wishes to you and your family.

Awe, Thanks John. Haven't gotten out much due to Covid. Hope you and your wife are safe and doing well my friend.

If you're ever there, come out of the entrance to the cross and turn right on 51. Drive down river a couple miles to the outskirts of Bardwell and watch for a roadside shack on the left advertising BBQ. That's Gene Prince's place and that's some of the best BBQ you will ever eat.

I'll keep that in mind. I only pass through this area once every 2 or 3 years. The only smoke stack I remember passing by was a big stinky paper mill. But thanks for the tip.

Howdy Folks, I haven't posted in awhile. I've been underground in my special Covid Proof Shelter (kidding). Actually, I just haven't been anywhere to post anything worthy. You folks are all such good photographers, I get a little intimated sometimes. But recently I had a relative pass away. Had to make the long trip home. On the way back, I stopped by this beautiful overlook over the Confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. It's called the Fort Jefferson Hill Park and Memorial Cross. Located just South of Wickliffe Kentucky. Thought I'd share this image I took exactly at Sunrise on March 16th. There are 3 states visible here. Your looking at Missouri on the left, Kentucky on the right and Illinois is straight ahead down the River. I hope you enjoy it...

First, Make sure your viewfinder focus is set. This is done by adjusting the diopter. It's a cogged wheel right next to the viewfinder (on the right side). If it is off, everything will look blurry when looking through the viewfinder. Since you said your pictures come out sharp. I suspect your viewfinder is out of adjustment. To adjust it, turn the wheel either way until all text displayed is sharp and crisp.

I did not know that they have Quick Trip in Nashville. Do they have the expanded kitchens in that one like they do here?

They're called "Quik Sak's" here Tom, with no kitchen what-so-ever. Just huge isles of unhealthy snacks and beer. My kinda place.

I more thing I wanted to add for those reading along. This place "Mefford Motors" was also the folks that did the Aerosmith van restoration. I recently saw that episode on American Pickers. Ok, that's it from me. Thanks again everyone. See ya next time...

Congrats James, a really fine shot.

A question for you. I joined the NPC which met at the Church on Broadway. I was disappointed because after the judging every week, winners seemed to be the same few people, and no discussion was conducted for how to improve. So, not learning much, I left after a year. Has this changed at all, so it is more of a learning environment? TIA for any reply.

Dick K

Thanks for your question and thanks for your complement. I remember that meeting location. Nope, same ole club, but now with a larger variety of winners who don't discuss how they achieved their winning photo. However, they do offer free lessons in how to use Photoshop and Lightroom. My reason for renewing year after year, is that I get to talk about photography with others. Sort of "talking shop". You can learn a lot that way. I made a lot of friends over the years. I get to visit and interact with folks who have different gear than me. I get exposed to professional photographers who come to speak and share their secrets. The best part, before the pandemic...was going on photographic outings and journeys together. We've been to Old Car City, Cumberland Falls, Reelfoot Lake Wildlife Refuse, plus day trips to Land Between the Lakes, and numerous sites in and around Nashville. There's nothing more fun than being with a big group of photographers on an outing. The comradery and friendship lasts a lifetime. Photography Clubs aren't for everyone though. I've seen a lot of people come and go over the years. Sadly right now, the club only meets virtually via Zoom with no outings. We all hate not being able to see each other in person. Thanks again and stay safe. Nashville is full of Covid.

Yea, I know. It was too late to photoshop out as I had already posted my entry before I realized it. Should have also removed that odd little antenna on the roof.

Thanks for taking a look, James. Back in the old days, Danny Gaither and I were good friends--we taught together at Alexandria Monroe High School, he shop and I English. We had some good times. Back then they were just the Gaither Trio--Bill, Danny, and Mary Ann. I knew them all, but Danny much better. I can’t remember anymore if Bill was still teaching English at Alex the year I started there or if he left the year before. Teaching got in the way of his singing career. Mary Ann married a friend of mine. They closed their gift shop and restaurant over a year ago, but still are quite active in the rest of the business and give tours of their facilities, I believe.

That's so amazing and thanks for the update. Well, we are both big Gaither fans. Sounds like we need to check into the latest info before we travel. With the pandemic going on, that may be awhile.
