This picture is a good example of a storytelling picture. Crisp and beautiful. A storytelling picture doesn't mean it needs a central character. The picture doesn't need a character always. A character doesn’t have to be a person. It could just as easily be a dog or a talking teapot. The purpose of a character in storytelling is to give your viewer something or someone relatable. People are drawn to characters, particularly flawed characters.
I like the 2nd and last picture most. In both pictures, I found her expression is what the picture requires.
