Do you understand how to crop an image? An 11 x 14 image will fit on a 13 x19 piece of photo paper. Maybe someone can walk you through the steps if you provide a little more information and/or upload the image file.

using Elements I tried to resize to 11.25x114.25 thinking the .25 would be enough to tape on the back of the matt. I changed the pixels to 240 as suggested. I put in the paper that I have 19x13 and pressed print. it printed 11x17 and now I have to cut off part of my photo and that it what I was trying to get away from. new question, when re-cropping, how do I know what the finished size will be ??

I have no idea what the aspect is (how would I find out). I can choose paper size 8.5x11 and that fits fine in a 8x10 matt.

Your camera's aspect ratio is likely 3:2 or 4:3. Neither of these allows the full image to "fit" an 11x14. As mentioned, you'll need to crop.

The same thing happens with 5x7 and 8x10. Neither of those very common mat (and frame) sizes is the aspect of 3:2 or 4:3.

Then I have to ask if I can't print 11x14 why would every craft store sell matts that require a 11x14 photo ??

I am laughing as I type this because I can't believe what I am learning. I travel to the art store and find matting pre cut at 16x20 with a photo size of 11x14. A size I consider very standard seeing as they are sold all the time. I find out now, that my Canon Pixma Pro-100 can't print 11x14 ?? what am I missing. ? I've called Canon twice and they don't seem to see the issue of art stores selling 11x14 matts for printers that can't print the same size. I have Picasa, Canon Photo print and Adobe Elements and none of them can adjust to print the size I wish to. I can pick the paper size (I have 13x19). The best I can prints is 11x17 and that cuts off several inches of my photos. Can anyone help me. ??? thanks

Topsail state park is on the Gulf just east of Destin. You can access the beach and find no hotels, or condos. A nice white sand beach to get your sunset photo.

I've learned that sunrise doesn't have to be in color to be amazing on the eye. I like that you can't tell if it's warm or cold, or what season or time of year for that matter. The photo doesn't scream beach, ocean......

We've all done it or will do the same thing. Consider it a practice round and learn from it. in a rush I hit the trail for a mile loop where I had seen a rather large Buck in days past. Hopped out of the car grabbed camera with long lens and off I went just before dusk. The light was great and the day was perfect. Not 100 yrd from the car there he was. Right in the middle of the trail, turned sideways looking right at me with his 15 point rack in perfect light. I raised my camera to my eye and press the botton. For the next ten seconds I here beep beep beep beep and just then remember that last night I was doing tripod work with the 10 second timer in very low light. Uggggggg. So what are the odds that he will stand still for ........ slim, very slim. I have a blurred photo of a bucks ass to remind me to check my setting each and everytime just before I "DONT" lock my keys in the car.

For me it's the moment that the photo was taken. What "I" saw, what I smelled at the time, who I was with. It was a moment worth saving (capturing). That doesn't always translate to a "good" photo, but rather a memory, that when I visit the photo, I relive the moment it was taken. It was the trip, the location (a place I have never been, or favorite place visited again). If it happens to wake up something in someone else by viewing it, well that is a bonus. The curse of getting deep into this photo thing is that I see a photo in this and that or don't see anything at all. I have to force myself outside the photog box to just enjoy the moment every now and again. I've been with other out walking when they say, "stop, I wanna grab a photo here" and I stop , look and just don't see what they see. That is when I am reminded how much fun this is. It's a personal journey shared. Not always understood, but shared anyway.

How you use the focus point options may be determined by the type of shooting you do. Having more points = less lost shots, faster focusing on the fly, better tracking. Just because you have them, doesn't mean you will use them.

thanks for the reply, but if it were camera shake wouldn't the entire photo be blurred. It threw me that only the head and shoulders of one child is not just blurred but it seems to be doubled. ??
