Great pictures, especially the 4th one.
Super shot.
It’s been months since I tried focus stacking, I think you may have stirred my enthusiasm to give it another go.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and the kind words Mark, napabob, Linda, raymondh and Jeff D
Much appreciated.

Have you tried macro? There are a lot of folks who do macro inside their home or at least not requiring great landscapes to shoot.
This is a good suggestion, look up “Focus Stacking” ..... you’ll be amazed what can be achieved on your kitchen table.
Can’t help with identification but I do know it’s a super picture
Well this is something I never thought I would say ...... “aren’t the hairs on a crabs legs interesting”. Ok so they are probably not hairs but that’s what they look like to me. I wonder how many of the tiny stone-like fragments in the first picture are plastic?
Once again my macro lens has revealed amazing detail I’ve not seen before.
I’ve posted my favourites and a, probably not quite macro, picture of the complete specimen. Hopefully, weather permitting, I’ll go looking for a live one tomorrow.

For those interested another update from Canon.
“Your enquiry concerning EOS RP has been forwarded to our product specialist team, who will investigate further. Please be aware that you will be contacted regarding this within 2 working days.”
For those still interested an update from canon (apologies to those who aren’t).
Sadly the wording is not as straightforward as an ageing Welshman would like. I think they are saying that the issue I raised is not new, it’s always been there, just shame on me for not noticing it earlier …….
From Canon
“Thank you for your patience and we apologise for the time taken to get back to you. We have checked your case with our product specialists with regards to the freezing/delay experienced when taking photographs on your EOS RP. After some investigation, unfortunately, we could not find a difference between the older and newer firmware and this appears to be the same on both the original and version 1.3.0 firmware. We could not find any additional delay in taking photos.”
End of Quote.
Time to move on I think.
