I had the same problem with Bridge. I upgraded Bridge CC, removed the old icon from the desktop and replaced with the upgraded icon in the applications folder. I also had the question mark for both Photoshop, and Illustrator CC. I again removed both from the desktop and replaced with a fresh icon from the applications folder. At this point they all seem to working fine. Good luck

In my street photography I tend to capture images leaning toward actions, mannerisms coupled with architecture. When comparing color and BW these types of images lead me toward BW... I was also influenced by photographers who shot in BW. I agree with everyone it comes down to personal preference. Happy Hunting!!!

You are shooting with an excellent body, especially for landscape and stills. If you are looking for a piece of glass that will give you distance, I would suggest renting the Nikon 80-400. This will allow you to capture animals and other subjects reasonably close, as well as giving you the distance. Sigma offers two 150-600mm (the Sport model is heavier) for little longer reach.

Instead to using a TC... I suggest putting your camera in Crop Sensor (DX) mode to get the extra reach. You will lose some mega pixels but you have more than enough on the D810. You will not get quite as much reach as with the TC, but you'll not lose any stops.

Happy Hunting

I forgot to mention that I was shooting with the Sigma 150-600 sport, and the Nikon 80-400. Mounting the lenses on the D500 gave me the extra reach without using the TC's.

I have the D810 which I use for landscapes, and the D4s, which I was my go to body for birding and other forms of wildlife. I have had my D500 for about a month now with very favorable results. The one frame per second on the FR is barely noticeable between the two... along with the image quality. Another deal breaker for me was the D500 buffer. One of my favorite birds to shoot is the Blue Heron diving for fish. I took the D500 to my favorite location and the speed, image quality was equal to images take with my D4s. I haven't been able to capture any sporting events as of yet so I can't comment in this area, but I am expecting the same performance. The big difference of course in the price. You can get similar captures with D500 with a savings of a few thousand bucks.

I would suggest purchasing from B&H which will allow you 30 days to compare before returning for a full re-fund.

Thanks... that's what I really want to do. I hesitated to take the big leap for fear so someone saying... "I told you so"

Curious Carl as to how you're using your device... are you capturing video as we'll as stills? Do you also enjoy shooting with DSLR's?

Thank you Carl... in spite of all the challenges I am leaning toward acquiring one for the reasons mentioned. You guys have been a big help, in appreciation I will provide a follow-up on my experience. Perhaps another newbie can benefit.

Blessing to all

Thanks to everyone for all the valuable information. Sorry I've been of the radar screen for several days. My day job is at a boarding academy, and we are busy with end of school, and graduation preparations.

As a photographer who shoots primarily outdoors, and in public vacation areas I am well aware of where not to point my camera... I stay well clear of children, private property, and what would be considered as intimate areas. I appreciate advice that the drone is even more capable of capturing in these no no areas. This has been one of my questions with the drone. I mentioned in an earlier post that I enjoy shooting in the National Parks, sporting events, and cityscapes.

When I began my initial research I viewed a video of the Inspire (I believe) capturing video footage of cars traveling across a bridge heading into a beautiful cityscape. I am often climbing down hillsides, rocks and other forms of debris to get to the waters edge for cityscape shot across water. Are there any drone precautions in these areas?

Even though the drone will undoubtedly open the gates for other opportunities... getting better views in these areas is the reason I am making the purchase.

It seems pretty clear to me that I should purchase a less expensive device to develop flying skills... but several drone flyers have suggested a drone with similar controls as the Phantom, and Inspire. Afterwards using the first device as a back-up after moving on. My question in this regard is to the Phantom users... is there a big camera difference between the Phantom 3 and 4?

I also looked at the Yuneec models, and learned from Yuneec that pre-orders are being taken on a new model on the horizon that has a better camera for stills. Does anyone have any knowledge on the camera capabilities, and expected date of arrival on this device?

Sorry for all the questions... I want to spend my dollars wisely.

Thanks again

I really appreciate your council. I was salivating over the Inspire 1 Pro Raw which has the price tag of a decent car... mainly because of the ability to shoot RAW. The fact that the Phantom has RAW capability is a big plus. I think I will definitely go with the Phantom. Do you know if Lightroom recognizes the Phantom RAW files? What is the ISO range before reaching the unacceptable noise level?

Thanks for the feedback Carl. At this point I am not planning on commercial work, my primary concern is capturing sharp images that I can enlarge if necessary. I do plan on using the quad mounted camera, it was for this reason I was eyeing the Inspire over the Phantom. It seems that video quality is good on both devices. I only mentioned my bodies to give an idea of the image quality I'm looking for.

On your Phantom 3... are your stills sharp enough for print and enlargements close to those produced by a full from DSLR? I will also investigate Yuneec, I don't remember seeing during my limited search.

Thanks again

Hi Indi,

Thanks for the reply. I apologize for the terminology, in speaking to various people over the last week or so they all use different terms when referring to the devices. From what I've read the P4 has the more advanced DJI technology for avoidance, and homing making it easier to get the device back to the home position without error. The X5 360 camera on the Inspire I Pro appears to have the far better image quality.

I believe you are correct about the license... that's something else I need to investigate.

Thanks again.

Greetings all,

I recently attended an event where I met a photographer using a drone (Phantom 3) for video, and stills. After asking a few questions, and viewing the results I became intrigued with the possibilities of incorporating the drone photography into nature and cityscape shoots. I went online to educate myself. At this point I am still thinking like a photographer which means at this point I was equally concerned about image quality. After searching I narrowed it down to two quads... the Phantom 4 (12mp), and the DJI Inspire 1 (16mp). The price difference is considerable... looking for council before committing.

I would also be a newbie to drone piloting. I am concerned about the learning curve to get up and going. In my photography mindset I am thinking DSLR upgrade... I have the feeling that this would be different. Appreciate any council.

Side note, I am currently shooting with full-frame Nikon bodies...

Thanks
